We spotted a mini-market selling Korean food at Taman Desa today. A friendly Chinese man was at the store and he told us that 40% of customers are Korean while 60% are locals. He also said that Korean food is suitable and well liked by the Chinese here in Malaysia.
To our delight, the entire shop is full of imported Korean products. They have Korean snacks (chewing gum, sunflower seed coated chocolates, Choco-Pie, Lotte’s Pepero), instant noodles, cooking oils and sauces, canned food, rice etc. The cooler near the door is well stocked with juice, tea, soju, canned drinks and kimchi! They even have a fridge stocked with ice-cream and frozen milk shake (which we found rather interesting).
