Coffee Prince sets up shop at 8TV

Our friends in the Philippines are currently enjoying (a dubbed version of) the extremely popular drama Coffee Prince on a local network.

Coffee Prince starts serving on Feb 22

Now Malaysians will get to do the same(!) when the Yoon Eun-hye and Gong Yoo series finally makes its way to 8TV.

We’re pretty sure the version that will be shown on free TV will be dubbed in Mandarin with Bahasa Malaysia subtitles. Yucks. Give us Korean audio with English/ Bahasa Malaysia/ Chinese subtitles please!

The series will air from Feb 22 onwards. Time: 8.30pm – 9.30pm, from Monday to Friday.

Who’s going to watch the one on TV?

@Arin Hey thanks for the link. I went and read it. It’s kinda funny. Izham was talking about his daughter and asking for parenting advice. Then “tiba-tiba” (suddenly) someone posted a comment on showing Korean dramas on 8TV in the original Korean! *lol*
Hmmm..i was very tempted to add my comment as well. 😉

  • haha. i feel like a stalker, but..
i browsed through 8tv’s website and found this:
    8TV CEO’s Blog
look at the comment posted by izam (well, that’s the CEO. lol), as a response to someone who complained about Korean dramas being dubbed.
haha. i think he had enough and kind of heard our rants. LOL.
I hope it will be very soon though 😉

i just watched CP during CNY holiday and now totally addicted to it…

yup! i really hate everytime they dubbed to chinese version. but it still worth it to watch it on tv for the starter just to get the view of the series. haha…as for me, i might not going to watch it everyday since i already owned the box set…hehehe!

ooohh..when CP was shown over in S’pore channel..i nearly banged my head against the wall few times! the subtitles was terrible & the Mandarin audio was urghhhh!

  • ” Also, they seem to recycle the dubbers as they sound the same in every dubbed show. How so boring. “

    true! boring no, annoying yes.

tbh, i kinda enjoyed this one more than Goong. haha dont ask me why!

yeah, as much as i enjoyed the series, i wont wanna watch it again on TV with annoying dubs.

  • Danny Foo

Friend of mine finished watching it already. I got a few glimpses of it. Not as interesting as Goong. 😛

Yes, I too watch some Korean dramas. Though I prefer their romance comedy movies. ROFL!

  • Liz high fives Arin too

Yeah, the dubbing is such a turn off but I think they do that because it will reach a wider audience.

Not everyone can read Chinese subtitles, but many can understand. Apart from that, 8TV is a network “catered” for the Chinese community, right?

Also, they seem to recycle the dubbers as they sound the same in every dubbed show. How so boring.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!

I AM CURRENTLY WATCHING Coffee Prince…..hate the commercials every three minutes or so…….i like the plot so far…..we only see it three days a week in this part of the USA…but it saves me on the Kleenex tip lol…do Korean men cry like that in reality?..if so that’s what i call a Man With Feelings…..my kind of man.

  • Orchid

yeah maybe 8tv can consider to show the drama twice. once dubbed in Mandarin, then the second time in original Korean with Malay / English subs.

  • liz, orchid. high 5!
i won’t be watching it on 8tv too.
the dubbing really annoys me 😛

but i really wanna watch this drama!
like what you guys have said,
i also heard a lot of good reviews.
    hurm.. 8tv, come on.
    wake up!

  • Orchid

i wanna watch Coffee Prince as i’ve heard so much good things about it. but i don’t think i’ll watch the dubbed version.

  • Yeah, I’ve not watched the series, but I’m not too keen on watching this version.

  • meiruo_chan

Well, I already watch this series and really like the plot and etc. But not to the extend to watch it again on TV with Mandarin dub and not so good subtitles.
