Grace Park & Daniel Dae Kim in Hawaii Five-O remake

I confess, I can hum along to the iconic Hawaii Five-O theme song, but I can’t remember nuts about the TV series (I got it mixed up with Miami Vice when talking to a friend recently).

Hawaii Five-O is a highly-popular American series that originally aired for 12 seasons from 1968 to 1980! Now, CBS is giving the series a makeover with a fresh new cast that includes Korean-Americans Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) and Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica).

Like in the original version, the contemporary reimagining of the series follows an elite task force set up to fight crime in Hawaii. The main character in the show is Steve McGarrett (played by Alex O’Loughlin) – the son of ex-cop Jack McGarrett.

Daniel Dae Kim portrays Chin Ho Kelly, a former cop trained by Jack McGarrett while Grace Park portrays rookie detective Kona “Kono” Kalakaua. Scot Caan rounds out the cast as Danny “Danno” Williams.

I think I shall have a look-see at what all the fuss is about. Hawaii Five-O premieres on Malaysian TV through the AXN channel (Astro 701) on Nov 14 @ 9pm. Hit the play button below for the very, very familiar theme song.

Hi Sofab, I watched the first episode and thought it was OK…nothing to shout about, but a fun watch nonetheless.

I like Criminal Minds more, though 😛
