K-Pop Crazee Cover at Hari Belia Negara

The Hari Belia Negara in Putrajaya on the final week of May 2012 held many exciting activities.

One of them was K-Pop Crazee Cover at the Youth Heartbeat stage Putrajaya Presint 3 on May 25.

K-Pop Crazee Cover is a competition to identify the best contestant who can sing and dance like a K-pop star. The main prize sponsors for the event were R4Youth Club & Sony Music Malaysia.

The gleeful event started with the launch of K-Pop Crazee Cover by Diovulus Entertainment President Dior, a Malaysian singer who has performed internationally including South Korea.

After that, the judges for the event were introduced. They were Ms. Suanne Chong – a Malaysian dancer who worked with artists such as KARA, T-Ara and Narsha. Chong has also worked with many famous K-pop shows, for example KBS’s Music Bank and SBS’s Inkigayo. Dr. Aaron Chung – a well known producer who worked for Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC, one of the major TV networks in Korea) and K-Pop Crazee Cover’s main organizer, Dior.

At 4.45pm, the competition started with a performance by Eiza Kamal from the K-pop cover group, ReoS (short for Rebirth of Shine). The 16 year old accompanied by her guitar, performed an acoustic version of Big Bang’s Blue

The competition then continued with performances by the other 27 registered contestants.

Among the 27 performances, a few of them really caught the judges’ attention. Among them was Erineez who sang We Were In Love by Davichi. Their performance was so good that the judges wondered if they performed live!

Another act, Progressions, performed B.A.P’s Warrior and stunned the audience when they brought out their self made B.A.P Bunny Matoki on stage. The Black Eyed Crew also did a great job with the performance of 4Minute’s Huh.

The winner of the RM500 grand prize was Ruffneckz who performed Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby. They wowed the judges with their perfect dance steps…and they even donned Big Bang costumes!

Progressions and Teddy Lo, who sang 2AM’s This Song, took second and third place with RM300 and RM200 cash prize respectively.

After the prize giving ceremony, karaoke discount vouchers sponsored by Neways Karaoke were given to the audience. The committee members also took the stage and danced to a medley of K-pop songs!

In addition, MCs for the day, Kannamani and Syakir sang a B2ST song while Era.fm’s Bakat Johara winner Raja Shahiran beat boxed. The event concluded with a performance by Dior. He sang a famous Korean trot entitled MuJoGeon.
