27th Golden Disk Awards in Malaysia in 2013
K-pop music lovers, we bet you’ve heard this by now. The Golden Disk Awards (GDA) will be held on Jan 15 & 16, 2013 at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
The event will be hosted by Mediartncomm Co. Ltd, supported by the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and presented by Samsung Malaysia Electronics (the title sponsor).
On Dec 6, Kwon Jae Hoon, Managing Director of Samsung Malaysia Electronics and Kim Sora, Entertainment Editorial Director of Ilgan Sports officiated the launch of the GDA in Putrajaya.
In her speech, Kim Sora explained the reason why Malaysia was chosen to host the event. She said: “The popularity of K-pop in the region made Malaysia a natural choice for GDA’s next destination. The reason for holding the awards abroad is in light of growing global popularity and to let the world enjoy K-pop.”

The GDA is touted as the Korean Grammy Awards. It is where the most popular k-pop music of the past year are selected and celebrated. Since its inaugural ceremony in 1986, the GDA has been recognized for its legitimacy, and has become the most sought-after recognition by musicians.
The awards ceremony boasts two streams – Album and Song. The categories within the streams include Grand Prize in Disk Album, Disk Album of The Year, Grand prize in Song of the Year and Song of the Year.
Also known to be the most prestigious Korean Pop Awards in South Korea, the GDA is the only awards ceremony that is based on the total sales of discs and digital music downloads.

The ceremony in Sepang will see over 20 of South Korea’s top artistes gracing the event!
The nominees for the GDA in 2013 are PSY, BigBang, Super Junior, KARA, CNBLUE, Infinite, BUSKER BUSKER and Girls’ Generation — TTS…just to name a few.
Tickets to the event are available in two tiers priced at RM688 and RM999. Both types of tickets give you access to the event on Jan 15 and 16.
