tvN Asia 24-hour express drama — Mother — a heartrending series that narrates the complexity of multifaceted motherhood, will premiere exclusively on tvN Asia in Singapore and Malaysia on 25 January (Thursday) at 21:45. The drama is the Korean remake of an exceptional award-winning Japanese TV drama with the same title and presents a cast of actresses Lee Bo-young (李宝英), Heo Yool (许律), Lee Hye-young (李慧英) and Ko Sung-hee (高圣熙).

Mother follows a cliff-hanging story centering on the “mother-and-daughter” relationship between an elementary school teacher and her student, an 8-year old girl who is being abused by her biological mother. It depicts an unpredictable journey of the pair experiencing pure maternal bond through a fake motherhood.

Lee Bo-young plays the leading role of an elementary school teacher Soo-jin, who undergoes drastic transformations from a chill urban professional to an affectionate substitute mother for her student. Child actress Heo Yool portrays an abused kid Hye-na, who suffers from both mental and physical assaults by her family. Hye-na’s biological mother Ja-young, played by Ko Sung-hee, is a tense figure struggling in complicated emotions toward her kid and is having a hard time confronting reality. Veteran actress Lee Hye-young, returns from a 7-year hiatus returns to play the role of Soo-jin’s charismatic mother, a top actress who raises her three kids all alone and has the strongest attachment with her eldest daughter Soo-jin.

On top of the powerful female cast, Mother is produced by renowned director Kim Cheol-kyu (previously directed Chicago Typewriter and On the Way to the Airport), and accomplished writer Jung Seo-kyoung (known for her scriptwriting of The Handmaiden and Lady Vengeance). Famous for their insights on humanity and delicate depictions of sentiment, the production team hopes that Mother will deliver heart-warming messages and thought-provoking storyline to the audience.

Mother will premiere exclusively on tvN Asia, within 24 hours of Korea’s broadcast, in Singapore and Malaysia on 25 January (Thursday) at 21:45 and air every Thursday and Friday. Catch it on TV or on-demand via Singtel TV Ch. 518 / 619, Singtel TV GO, StarHub TV Ch. 824 or StarHub GO in Singapore and on Astro Ch. 395, Astro GO, unifi tv (previously HyppTV ) Ch. 601 or unifi playtv in Malaysia with subtitles in English, Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia.
