5 Popular Activities from around the World

Wherever you travel in the world, there is always something to do that will challenge you, astound you and make you glad to be alive. That’s what traveling does. It broadens the mind by giving you experiences you will never forget. Let’s take a look at five popular activities from around the world that everybody should try to tick off their bucket list at some point in their lives:

Find an Island

Leonardo DiCaprio may have found the beach, but if you find yourself around Indonesia, you could quite easily find yourself an island. Whether it’s inhabited by human beings or not isn’t really important, there are over 17,000 to choose from, so they shouldn’t be too crowded. Take a boat and explore as many of them as you can. Just don’t forget your swimsuit and flip-flops.

Escape Rooms

One of the breakout successes of the last few years for fun and challenging activities has been the Pittsburgh Escape Room. They can test the strongest relationship to its core, but don’t let that put you off, it’s ridiculously good fun. With an Escape Room activity, you are given 60 minutes to solve several tasks that will eventually lead you to freedom, once they are all completed. It’s a great workout for the brain, and there are lots of fun to be had.

Bungee Jump

Wherever you are in the world, there’s a good chance there’s an opportunity to put your lives in another person’s hands and do a bungee jump. Exhilarating and more than a little terrifying, millions of people around the world do a bungee jump every year. The most famous ones are in China and Switzerland, where the Macau Tower jump stands at 233 meters (764 feet) and the Verzasca Dam stands at 220 meters (721 feet). But if you fancy something a little smaller, search around wherever you find yourself on your travels.

Give Elephants a Bath

If you’re ever in Thailand and want to do something extraordinary that isn’t related to tanning on a beach, head over to the Elephant Hills Rainforest Lake Camp in the absolutely stunning and virtually untouched Khao Sok National Park, where your accommodation literally sits on the water overlooking the rainforest, and you can sit on your porch or jump in at all. There is also the small matter of being able to travel to the Elephant Camp, where you can watch several of the world’s most elegant and majestic beasts take a bath, before getting up close and personal with them. You can feed them fruit and vegetables and give them a shower with a hose and bucket. They love it, and you’ll never forget it.

Dive out of a Plane

The second item that features on many people’s bucket lists is diving out of a plane, or ‘skydiving’ to use its much safer-sounding term. Jumping from a small plane and watching the world come towards you at great speed – until the cord is pulled, that is – is an experience that can’t be explained. It has to be experienced to understand the pure joy it creates.

Think outside the box the next time you want to travel or try something new, and you’ll find yourself discovering something you may never have imagined.
