“The Farewell” to receive the Vanguard Award, Daniel Dae Kim to give opening Keynote, Amber Liu and MILCK to perform as musical guests
Character Media, a subsidiary of the Imperial Family Companies (formerly known as London Trust Media), announced today that the host of this year’s 18th Annual Unforgettable Gala, presented by Lexus, will be award-winning actor Simu Liu. Recently cast as the lead in Marvel’s upcoming film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” Liu is also known for his roles in “Kim’s Convenience” and “Fresh off the Boat.”
Delivering the keynote address will be Daniel Dae Kim, respected as a leader and advocate for diversity and equality in Hollywood. Kim is the CEO of 3AD Media. He brought “The Good Doctor” to ABC/SONY as an executive producer, and also starred in the successful Netflix hit “Always Be My Maybe.”
The cast and crew of “The Farewell” are being honored with this year’s Vanguard Award for their incredible contributions to cinema. Beyond celebrating entertainment on screen, professional golfer Kevin Na will be accepting the Pechanga Athlete on Another Level Award.
The 18th Annual Unforgettable Gala will take place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA, on December 14, 2019. The evening will feature a variety of musical performances, including world-renowned K-pop sensation Amber Liu; indie musician MILCK, known for her hit song “Quiet,” which became the rallying cry at the 2017 Women’s March on Washington; and “Samurai Guitarist” and Goodwill ambassador to Japan, MIYAVI.
The Unforgettable Gala is the preeminent awards show that recognizes Asian American icons and changemakers in the entertainment industry. Nominees were selected and voted on by Character Media’s esteemed selection committee, composed of industry professionals, who represent all genres and creative disciplines, including film, television, music, sports, digital technology and philanthropy.
The award recipients will be announced at the 18th Annual Unforgettable Gala, held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA, on December 14, 2019.
