Gangwon Province of Korea and Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Kuala Lumpur Office hosted the seminar entitled “Gangwon 2018 Malaysia Winter Tourism Night” at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur to introduce the marketing plan to develop the extraordinary travel program with Malaysian partners throughout the year.

During the business networking time, over 100 local Malaysian travel agents have actively consulted with major attractions and ski resorts in Gangwon Province such as Nami Island, Yongpyong Resort, Phoenix Pyeongchang and Daemyung Hotels and Resorts as well as 10 Korean “GITAB” (Gangwon International Neo Tourism Advisory Board) ground operators to discover brand new tourism resources in Gangwon Province for future business leads.

Mr. Jeong Il Sub, Chief Director of Tourism Marketing Department of Gangwon Province Office stated, “As the hosting province of 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, we would like to showcase Olympic legacy themed programs and infrastructures that Gangwon Province has worked on. We hope our Malaysian partners have found the new horizons in Gangwon for future development today.”

HE Dr. Toh Kyung Hwan, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea whose hometown is Jeongseon county, Gangwon Province made a congratulatory speech to deliver the special appreciation to Julian Yee, the newly appointed Gangwon Tourism Ambassador for contributing to connect Malaysia and Gangwon Province of Korea by participating in PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games. And, he highlighted Gangwon Province as the best destination to experience the winter activities and cultures in Korea.

 MICE Destination: Unique team building and venue under Post Olympic theme

Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice towards a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is a good team building game as a great deal of strategy and teamwork go into choosing the ideal path and placement of a stone for each situation. Gangneung, Gangwon Province and Korail developed this curling game into tourism product entitled “Yeong-mi Curling”, which is named after the curler in Korean curling team in PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Wish Tree at Wolhwa Street in Gangneung was built to wish a great success of PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, good luck to athletes and for everyone’s dreams come true. Visitors can write the wish on the carp fish shaped board to hang it on the wish tree.

 Wonderland of Snow: Malaysian Snow Festival to commemorate 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games

Well known enough for winter paradise, Gangwon Province with KTO and ski resorts has developed premium ski festivals named Fun Ski (Yongpyong Resort), Go Go Ski (High 1 Resort), Viva Ski (Daemyung Vivaldi Park) and Snow Club (Phoenix Pyeongchang) and received great feedbacks from foreign visitors. With the plan to expand the stream to Malaysian market, Gangwon Province will inject some Malaysian theme in the snow festival with Hallyu contents and entertainment programs.

 Premium Contents: Festival, DMZ, Hallyu, Sports, Gastronomy and others

Unlike the stereotype that it’s only famous for Winter, Gangwon Province has diverse year-round festivals as Goseong Lavender Festival (Jun), Pyeongchang Hyoseok Cultural Festival (Sep), Jeongseon Arirang Festival (Oct) and Hwacheon Ice Fishing Festival (Jan). From “Winter Sonata” to “Goblin”, many K-drama shooting locations can be found in Gangwon Province, especially Taebaek Hanbo Coal Mine for Descendants of the Sun is been loved by Malaysian tourists to trace Song Song couple’s memory. Authentic local dishes in Gangwon Province as Dakgalbi (Chuncheon), Hwangtae (Pyeongchang), Gondre (Jeongseon), Chodang Dubu (Gangneung) and others are the main elements for gastronomy tour in Gangwon Province.

We’ve been to Incheon so many times, but only limited to its airport. Oh well, that’s because Incheon is famous for Incheon International Airport, South Korea’s airport hub.

We never thought of exploring the city of Incheon before, and we hope future travellers will have the same experiences like us.

In fact, there are so many attractions and places to visit in Incheon. During our recent trip we had a chance to spend a night in Incheon and experience so many things!

Sochang Experience Center at Ganghwa Island

We stopped by Sochang Experience Center to learn about fabrics. We got to watch the videos and learn about fabric history during 1960s and see all kinds of sewing machines used to make fabrics. We also experienced designing our own handkerchief using stamps at Sochang Experience Center.

Old sewing machine.

Sochang Experience Center was also a filming location for K-drama “Switch”, starring Jang Geun Seuk.

Where : 8, Nammunan-gil 20beon-gil, Ganghwa-eup, Ganghwa-gun

Joyang Fabric Factory Café

Joyang Fabric Factory Café used to be a factory but was remodelled to be a trendy café in Incheon. The owner collects vintage stuffs and displays them in the café, making it much more unique.

This beautiful vintage cafe has recently became very popular on Instagram, and it’s the most popular cafe on Ganghwa Island.

Some of the vintage collection.

The space is so big that it is a very suitable place for a big group of people, couples or even for people who need a personal space. It was used as a drama set in the past, but it was reborn as a cafe space after shooting.

Where : 12, 5 beon-gil, Ganghwa-eup, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, Korea

Songdo Central Park / G-Tower Observatory

Songdo Central Park view from the G-Tower Observatory

So-called a green paradise found among the crowded skycrapers in the city, Songdo Central Park is a seaside park build within Songdo International City, you can enjoy water leisure sports here.

There is also G-Tower nearby the park where we can see the view of Songdo from the 33rd floor.

Unique architecture that looks like a bowl.

Where : 196, Techno park-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon

MUSE Academy

K-pop choreography can be hard to follow. Why not learn it from the experts? We stopped by MUSE Academy at Incheon to learn a K-pop dance.

It was a trending song, LATATA by girl group (G)I-DLE. The dance teacher used to be a backup dancer for BTS and Wanna One! MUSE Academy is also known as a training place for Produce 48 members, providing vocal, dance and acting lesson for those who are interested.

Click on the short snippet from our Instagram below to watch our LATATA’s dance class.

Gangwon is probably one of our favourite provinces to visit in South Korea. Besides successfully hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province is blessed with beautiful mountains and clean beaches that offers breathtaking scenery and vacation spots to visit all year along.

One of the most popular cities to visit in Gangwon is Gangneung. Known as the largest coastal city in Gangwon Province, Gangneung has many tourist spots for you to visit.

Have you read our recent travelogue on Chuncheon and our coverage at 2018 Leisure Chuncheon K-pop Mega Concert ? Click on the link if you haven’t.

After spent 2 days in Chuncheon, it was time to explore the next city of Gangwon, Gangneung. We had a chance to visit some of the attractions in the city, and we have listed out 10 things you shouldn’t miss out on when if you travel to South Korea.

1. Visit the historical site, Ojukheon

The first place we visited when we were in Gangneung is Ojukheon, one of the most famous historical sites in Gangneung. It was built during the time of the 11th King of Joseon, and remains as one of the oldest wooden residential buildings in Korea.

Ojukheon gets its name from the many black bamboo trees that surround it. This is where Shin Saimdang (a Korean artist, writer, calligraphist, and poet) lived and where her son Yi I (scholar and politician), was born.

Shin Saimdang and Yi I have a long interesting story which you can listen to for a whole day, thanks to the tour guide who told us the story passionately.

Most of you are probably familiar with Shin Saimdang and Yi I, as both of them are the faces on the bank notes of 50,000 won and 5,000 won respectively.

Shin Saimdang on 50,000 KRW note. (Photo : Wikipedia)

Also, you may have watched the drama adaptation, Saimdang, Memoir of Colors, starring goddess Lee Young Ae and everyone’s first love oppa, Song Seung Heon.

Where : 24, Yulgok-ro 3139beon-gil, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :
[Bus] From Gangneung Express Bus Terminal, take Bus 202 or 302 to Ojukheon.
Or, from Gangneung Station, take Bus 202 or 300 to Ojukheon.

2. Strolling around Wolhwa Street and trying market food at Gangneung Jungang Market

Strolling around Wolhwa Street and Gangneung Jungang Market was next on our itinerary. Wolhwa Street is the street set on an old railway but since the rail has been moved underground, they decided to built a park here for everyone.

Before the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, a Wish Tree was built to wish a great success to this big event and good luck to the athletes. Now it became a wish tree for everyone’s dream to come true.

Another thing we learnt about Wolhwa Street is the love story between a girl named Yeonhwa, and a Hwarang named Muwollang.

Like a K-drama, Yeonhwa’s parents tried to match her with another guy so she decided to throw a letter into the pond and asked the carp fishes to deliver it to her love.

Fated enough, Muwollang went to the market to buy fish and found Yeonhwa’s letter inside it. That was how they got together. And that’s how the carp fish became the mascot of Wolhwa Street!

Hotteok, popular street food in Korea!

Gangneung Jungang Market is located next to Wolhwa Street, and it’s the main market for locals that sells fresh seafood and all kind of delicious market food. We bought a few kinds of hotteok as snacks and cold drinks to cool down the heat.

Where : 35-7, Gonghang-gil 127beon-gil, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :
[Bus] From Dong Seoul Bus Terminal, take an intercity bus bound for Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal.
Take Bus 202 and get off at Sinyeong Theater Bus Stop. (5 bus stops away)
[Walk] Walk straight until the first alley and take a right.

3. Challenge your fear with Aranabi ZipLine

Since it’s a summer trip anyway, why not fill it with some extreme sports! Aranabi Zipline brings the meaning of butterflies flying over the ocean. It was the first zipline in Korea that overlooks the beautiful ocean.

It was drizzling by the time we arrived there. Luckily the wind was not that strong, so we still can fly on the zipline. I was scared to try it out for the first time, but once I hopped on the zipline, it was so much fun actually.

4. Wishing for a true love at Jumunjin Breakwater

It’s a must-stop for K-drama fans! Jumunjin Breakwater is the shooting location for the popular K-drama Goblin. It is where Eun-tak (Kim Go Eun) and Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) meet for the first time! Bring your own buckwheat flowers here and re-enact the scenes!

Where : 1609, Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

5. Pose like the hottest K-pop group at BTS Bus Stop

BTS has shot their ‘You Never Walk Alone’ album photos near the Junmunjin beach, and from the iconic photos, they were spotted posing in a bus stop.

Gangneung city has decided to set up the BTS Bus Stop as a photo zone for the tourists who visited Gangneung. It is not an actual bus stop and public buses never stop here. With the power of BTS, this bus stop instantly got famous and has become one of the hottest instagrammable spots!

6. Enjoying the view while riding the Sea Train

We rode the sea train from Gangneung Station to Jeongdongjin Station. The sea view was so beautiful!

The Sea Train is a tourist train travelling along the East sea. It has beautiful decorations with a marine theme. The seating in the train are all facing on one side, towards the window so you have ocean views.

It was interesting enough to have colorful lights that changes its color to green, red, and blue while passing through a tunnel.

7. Riding a bike at Jeongdongjin Rail Bike

We stopped by Jeongdongjin station to have more activities during this trip. Riding a rail bike while enjoying the beautiful view of ocean while we were on track was really a memorable one.

While Jeongdongjin has been famous as the best spot to see the sunrise, it is also recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as having a train station which is located the closest to the sea in the world.

The fee to ride the bike is 20,000 KRW for 2 seaters and 30,000 KRW for 4 seaters.

Where : 17, Jeongdongyeok-gil, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :
[Train] Take the train and stop at Jeongdongjin Station

8. Learn the history of time at Jeongdongjin Time Museum

Of course we had to stop by one of the famous museums in Jeongdongjin, called Jeongdongjin Time Museum. Using a steam locomotive and 180m-long train, this museum is a exhibition space based on the theme ‘Time’. We learnt the  interesting history of time and clocks while having a coffee break here.

Where : 990-1, Heonhwa-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :
[Train] Take the train from Cheongnyangni Train Station towards Jeongdongjin (7 trains a day, travel time 4-5 hour)

* Take the city bus #111, #112, #113 from Gangneung Terminal

9. Fall deep into the meaning of arts at Haslla Art World

Haslla Art World is one of the popular museums in Gangneung that you’ll never want to miss. It is a contemporary art museum facing the East Sea, so you can enjoy the artworks with the beautiful nature together.

Where : 1441, Yulgong-ro, Gangdong-myeon, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :
[Bus] Take an intercity bus to Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal.
From Gangneung Terminal, take bus 111, 112 or 113 to Haslla Art World.

* Jeongdongjin Station (Sun Cafe) to Haslla Art World

10.  Have a romantic coffee date at Anmok Coffee Street

For coffee lovers, Anmok Coffee Street is heaven on earth. Gangneung is well known as a city of coffee. There are too many choices of coffee which you can have here. We stopped by one of the cafes to enjoy the coffee and snacks with beautiful ocean view.

Where : 17, Changhae-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :
[Bus] Anmok Bus Stop. Green Bus No. 202-1 (bound for Gyeongpo-Anmok), 302 (bound for Anmok-Hyanghori)

After spending 2 memorable days in Gangneung, and 2 lovely nights at Value Hotel Worldwide Gangneung, we were ready to go back to Seoul. This time we decided to take KTX instead of the bus.

KTX

Korea Train eXpress (KTX) is a high speed rail system operated by Korail. The newly opened line from Wonju to Gangneung started operating officially last December to serve the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

You can save more if you buy Korail Pass from www.letskorail.com. Korail Pass is a rail pass for foreigners visiting Korea. It is the most economical choice since it allows a pass holder to take almost all trains operated by Korail in a selected period of time (2, 3, 4 or 5 days).

Our Korail Pass

The KTX ride from Gangneung to Seoul/Seoul to Gangneung took about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Definitely had another FUNtastic trip in Gangwon, we will sure to come back again soon. If you want to visit Gangwon like us, purchase your flight ticket now at www.airasia.com and ride the KTX from Seoul to Gangneung. It is much more easier now!

Well known as the ‘Romantic City’, we brought you some of the best attractions in Chuncheon that we visited during our recent trip to South Korea.

A nice village to visit, Daeryongsan Haemaji Village offers peach fruit picking and jam making programmes so visitors can learn the processes of peach harvesting.

During the trip we visited one of the famous peach farms in the village which is called Smily Peach Farm. We learnt how to harvest peaches, pack the peaches and we even ate the fresh peaches on the spot!

Seoyanggang Skywalk

A post shared by Rozyyati Mohamad (@rozymohd) on

Seoyanggang Skywalk is one of the famous tourist spots in Chuncheon. Built atop Uiamho Lake, this observatory structure proudly has of a total length of 174m, making it the longest skywalk in Korea.

As a person who is scared of heights like myself, it was quite a scary experience to walk on just a pane of glass. But do not worry as there are three sheets of glasses that are strong enough to hold you up there!

Before entering the skywalk, everyone was given a pair of cloth shoes covers to put on at the entrance. Girls, no heels allowed here ya!

Where : 2675, Yeongso-ro, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :

[Train] Chuncheon Station (Gyeongchun Line), Exit 1.
[Bus] Cross the street to take Bus No. 11 and get off at Statue of Soyanggang Maid Bus Stop.
[Walk] Walk 200m to arrive at the skywalk.

Nangman Traditional Market / Yukrim Street / Chuncheon Myeongdong Street

Daebak, there 3 in 1 places to visit around this area!

Nangman means ‘romance’ in Korean. Nangman Traditional Market has classic layout style of coffee shops, restaurants, fruits, clothes, bags, jewelry and shoes shop. This market became even more famous because of the Korean drama “Winter Sonata.”

We stopped by one of the small restaurants in the market to have lunch noodles. The restaurant was quite packed during lunch that we have to queue a bit to get inside. It’s wasn’t that long as the service is quite fast there.

After having a refreshing lunch noodles, we strolled around Yukrim Street and Chuncheon Myeongdong Street for some shopping!

While Chuncheon Myeongdong Street is one of the most popular shopping streets in the heart of downtown Chuncheon, Yukrim Street is well known as the filming location of K-drama ‘While You Were Sleeping’.

Yukrim Street is a newly developed place where the old and the new meet. The street is filled with a few decades-old stores as well as trendy shops and hip restaurants too!

Where : 34, Myeongdong-gil, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :

– [Train] Chuncheon Station (ITX-Gyeongchun Line), Exit 1.
– [Bus] Take Bus 9, 12, 20 or 150 and get off at Jungang Market.

Gubongsan Mountain Observatory Café Street

Gubongsan means ‘the mountain with 9 peaks’. It is a cafe area where you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Chuncheon. It’s also a famous dating spot these days.

We stopped by the Twosome Place coffee shop to take photos at the famous glass box that sticks out from the rooftop of the cafe.

Then, we bought some coffee and cookies and enjoyed the breathtaking view at Santorini, the most famous cafe with a theme of Santorini from Greece. We love leisuring and lazing around like this 😀

Where : 1154-113, Sunhwan-daero, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there :

From Chuncheon/NamChuncheon Station or Chuncheon Intercity Bus Terminal, take a taxi to Songam Sports Town. It takes about 10- to 15 minutes only.

Canoe at Mullegil

Since it was a summer trip, it was perfect to have some outdoor activities to enjoy with your family and friends. Mullegil is a great place to enjoy water sports on a beautiful lake and river.

I would suggest everyone to try canoeing! It was tiring but we had so much fun together. Feels like I gained some muscles after canoeing… Haha

Don’t know how to canoe? Fret not, you will be trained beforehand and the staff will guide you.

Where : 113-1, Sports town-gil, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do

How to get there : From Chuncheon/NamChuncheon Station or Chuncheon Intercity Bus Terminal, take a taxi to Songam Sports Town. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes only.

We definitely had a great time in Chuncheon! We especially love our cosy stay at Heyy, Chuncheon. Thank you AirAsia X for flying us to South Korea, it was a pleasant flight. We especially love the in-flight meal, Kimchi Fried Rice!^^

We were in Chuncheon, the capital city of Gangwon Province, South Korea last Saturday for 2018 Leisure Chuncheon KPOP Mega Concert.

Held at Songam Sports Town Main Stadium on August 25, 2018 Leisure Chuncheon KPOP Mega Concert brought the best lineup to the town as SHINee, Ailee, Nu’est W, B.A.P, Gugudan were among the artistes lined up for the night!

The concert started at 7.30PM, right after the inauguration speech and launching ceremony. Rookie group, Nature was the opening act of the night, followed by vocal group Vromance, and girl group Baba.

Trot is another genre of Korean Music which is enjoyed by all ages. Fans were on their feet as everyone was excited to sing-along to the hit trot songs performed by legendary trot singer, Kim Yeon Ja and Park Hyunbin.

Ailee

The screams got louder as Ailee came out and performed her hits such as You and I, Don’t Touch Me, Atmosphere and OST from the famous K-drama Goblin, I Will Go To You Like The First Snow. No doubt, her live vocals were top-notch!

B.A.P

B.A.P performed for the crowd for the first time without their leader, Bang Yongguk as he announced his departure from the group a few days before due to his contract’s expiration.

Even though we can listen to Yongguk’s part in B.A.P’s songs, Himchan, Daehyun, Youngjae, Jongup and Zelo tried their best to fill the void with perfect performances. The boys performed their popular songs such as Skydrive, Wake Me Up, Angel (1004), Wild Young & Free and Carnival.

Dream Catcher

Up next was trending girl group Dream Catcher, who performed Sleep-walking, Chase Me, Fly High and more.

Gugudan

Girl group power is then continued with Gugudan! Only 6 members were present at the concert, but they still managed to catch fans’ attention with A Girl Like Me, The Boots and Chococo.

NU’EST W

Make ways girls, its time for the boys! Nu’est W consisting of Jonghyun, Ren, Baekho and Aron stole the screaming crowd’s hearts with Dejavu, Polaris, Hello and Where You At.

SHINee

The highlight of the night was hot boy group, SHINee. We saw the lightsticks of SHINee all over the stadium! This was our first time watching SHINee as group of 4 members.

It was bittersweet to see a member missing but we’re glad that the other 4 was still strong enough to perform on stage. SHINee performed 5 songs including Beautiful, Aside and Our Page.

The concert ended around 10.30PM and boy, we had so much fun!

Special thanks to Gangwon Province and AirAsia X for flying us over to watch the concert! Don’t forget to check out AirAsia’s website and social media accounts for flight promotions to South Korea.

If you’re looking for a trip of a lifetime, you will want to take the next flight out to Seoul. Not only is the city world-renowned for its high-tech subways and jaw-dropping skyscrapers, but the South Korean capital provides traditional Buddhist temples, exquisite palaces, and delicious street food.

The city is, of course, the ultimate destination for fans of K-pop, as there are many must-visit attractions to add onto your bucket list, such as G+Star Zone, SMT Seoul and SUM Market, and Hongdae.

However, you will need plenty of money in the bank to explore the very best attractions and events the capital has to offer. Stop frivolously spending money and find out how to save up for a trip to Seoul.

Book a Vacation on National Cheap Flight Day

Save money on your flights to Seoul by booking airline tickets on August 23rd, which is unofficially known as National Cheap Flight Day. That’s because this will mark the end of the peak travel season, which starts from April until 22nd August.

Prices will drop significantly during the off-peak season, which will provide you with more money to spend on luxurious accommodation, attractions, food, or drinks in South Korea.

Adjust Your Spending Habits

If you dream of visiting the capital of K-pop, but don’t have enough money to put into your savings each month, you might need to adjust your spending habits. Review your bank and credit card bills to identify where you are unnecessarily spending money, so you can stop wasting your income.

For example, are you going the gym enough to excuse the monthly payment? Could you cut down on your cable bill to reduce your outgoings? Or maybe you’re buying more clothes than your closet needs? If so, it is time to nip your bad financial habits in the bud. The money saved could then be added into your savings account.

Say Goodbye to Debt

A trip to Seoul will never happen if you’re constantly juggling debt. Rather than applying for further credit cards and loans to fund your trip, aim to say goodbye to debt and increase your financial security, so you can enjoy a stress-free vacation.

If you want to eliminate debt for good, consider applying for a personal loan with a fixed interest rate. Your repayments will be the same every month, and you must use the money to repay your extortionate credit card bills. Checkout these Upstart reviews to learn more about a personal loan.

Continue to Save Once You’re Debt Free

Freeing yourself from debt is not an excuse to take out another credit card or loan. Your goal must be to naturally boost your savings, so you can fund a trip with your hard-earned money. Once your monthly debt repayments are over, deposit the same amount directly into your savings account. This will help you to finally explore the South Korean capital.

Skip Expensive Hotels and Housesit for a Local

Hotels in South Korea are notoriously expensive. Rather than booking expensive accommodation, boost your bank balance by housesitting in a local’s home. Not only will you have an affordable, comfortable place to rest your head throughout you stay, but you will also have access to their laundry facilities, so you will not need to pack lots of clothing.

Book an Airbnb Stay

If housesitting doesn’t seem like the right option for you, consider booking an Airbnb for your visit to Seoul. Travelers can often book a stay that’s a fraction of a hotel room’s cost, and you can often enjoy a more personalized experience from the host. As it’s dedicated to offering fair prices to tourists, you might find it difficult to discover more affordable accommodation in the city.

Immediately Deposit Money into Your Savings Account

If you have taken the time and effort to identify ways to reduce your outgoings, you should immediately transfer the spare cash straight into your high-interest savings account. You can guarantee the $40 saved on your electricity bill or gym membership will quickly add up over time.

You also won’t miss the money either, as you would have usually spent it. If you don’t move it immediately, it could result in you spending your savings on something else, such as groceries or clothing.

Start a Side Hustle

If heading off on a dream vacation to Seoul seems like a million years away due to limited funds, increase your bank balance by starting a side hustle. This means using a skill to make money in your spare time. For example, you could sell crafts on Etsy, cook homemade meals for busy professionals, or walk your neighbors’ dogs in your spare time.

Keep a Change Jar

Do you constantly have cents and pennies in your pocket, wallet or purse? Those small coins can all add up to a large sum of cash that could buy your airline tickets and/or accommodation, which you can deposit directly into your vacation savings account.

Get into the habit of emptying your pockets every night to place the money in your change jar, and you might be surprised by how quickly it will add up. Also, as you won’t have the money to spare in your pocket, it will prevent you from impulse buying.

How to Save Once You’re There

There are various ways to stretch your finances once you touch down in Seoul. For example, if you want to explore the city affordably, buy a T-money card or Cashbee card to save money on all forms of public transport, such as taxis, subways, and buses.

Also, if you want to explore the best of South Korean cuisine without flashing the cash, you should eat where the locals do in the capital. Rather than booking a table at a high-end restaurant, don’t be afraid to try the inexpensive yet delicious street food, such as Samgye-tang (ginseng chicken soup) and bibimbap (a Korean mixed rice bowl), which offers unforgettable flavors that will explode onto your tongue.

After reading that Dublin was included in the list of 21 places to visit in 2018, drafted every year by the prestigious National Geographic, I thought it was about time I could finally share my personal experience with my campervan road trip all over Ireland starting from Dublin.

After all, in addition to the beautiful and culturally lively Dublin, the Emerald Isle has so many places worth visiting: think of the rebel Cork, the artistic Galway, the colorful Kinsale … In short, beautiful places (and often also little known to the most, less touristic and more authentic places) there are plenty of them and a road trip on the island would be a great way to spend holidays learning something more about this incredible country in a unique way.

But how to plan a campervan road trip in Ireland?

You could think of starting from the capital of Dublin, full of pubs, museums, galleries, parks, shops and much more.

Rent a campervan and start road tripping!

Renting a campervan is a great option to explore at your own pace, together with your travel buddies in a convenient, adventurous and old-fashioned way.

What else you need to get started

Of course, you need a car but another thing you should definitely have is a motor insurance to make sure you can travel safely and stress-free. Insurance with thea.ie could offer not only a motor insurance but so much more such as a comprehensive car insurance insuring you, your car and all the other vehicles you are going to use, as well as a courtesy car if something bad happens. This will give you flexibility and more options to keep going while road tripping Ireland and exploring its incredible beauties.  I always rely on this website as it’s the best!

Belfast

After your stay in Dublin, you can head north to Belfast: although the city is under British jurisdiction, a visit here should not be missed! Belfast is in fact known for being a culturally fascinating city, with many visitors coming every year.

Then descend to the west coast to reach the famous Galway, recently made even more known by the British singer Ed Sheeran, who sings in one of his songs.

Galway

Galway is a city that surprised me: colorful and quiet during the day, it turns into an open-air party in the evening! Its uniqueness is the many street artists that cheer every corner of the city: I assure you that Galway remains in the heart.

Following the Wild Atlantic Way

Follow the Wild Atlantic Way and take the opportunity to visit enchanting places like the Aaran Islands, Limerick, Killarney National Park and finally Cork, the Rebel City of Ireland.

Cork is a must

A stop in Cork in your road trip cannot miss: despite being small, the city has character and it is impossible to forget it …

Some other hidden gems before heading back to Dublin

Then take advantage of the passage through the city of Waterford (the oldest in the island) and the Wicklow Mountains National Park to return to Dublin.
