Kwon Sang-woo & Song Seung-hun talk Destiny

Hallyu stars Kwon Sang-woo (Bad Love) and Song Seung-hun (Summer Scent) talked to the press about their new movie Destiny. The action flick is about best friends whose fate leads them to a situation where they have to betray each other. Pals: ‘This guy right here? He cracks me up all the time.’ Both actors revealed that they took on their respective roles because it was a challenge for them. “I didn’t want to make a safe comeback. I wanted to show my fans a different side of me,” said 32-year-old Song, who makes a return to the big screen in the flick after serving 2 years in the military. The actor then expressed his satisfaction over the film and hopes it does well at the box office. Buddies: ‘Dude, are those my favourite leather shoes you’re wearing?’ Meanwhile, Song’s co-star and good friend Kwon Sang-woo also said that he wanted a challenging role. The actor who typically plays the chivalrous hero, slips into the shoes of the bad guy in Destiny. Chums: ‘He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother’ The duo may play enemies onscreen, but they are very chummy offscreen. Check out their chemistry in the interview with Entertainment

Bad Love ratings, rants and behind-the-scenes

Most of us know that the previously much anticipated KBS drama Bad Love received less than encouraging ratings when it was screened in South Korea earlier this year. It was Kwon Sang-woo‘s return to the small screen after a 2-year hiatus and many were expecting a good watch, but most were disappointed. They left the drama high and dry without so much as a backward glance. I bet Kwon Sang-woo (KSW) was hoping that it will generate a lot of (good) hype in his homeland and this drama would be a vehicle to further secure his #1 spot as Korea’s most wanted actor. Alas, that did not happen. In fact, KSW has dropped from the #1 spot on HanCinema’s most wanted top 10 actors list to #5 (at the time i am writing this entry). Even the much publicized sauna scene in episode 4 where Kwon Sang-woo and all his six-pack glory was revealed could not save the drama from its low ratings. Although we do not underestimate the power of those 6-packs as episode 4 had the highest ratings in all the 20 episodes. Bad Love’s much talked aboutsauna scene in episode 4 But it was not all bad

Orchid had to attend to something urgent last night so she was unable to watch the final episode of Bad Love. Thus Liz is stuck with given the honours to bring you Episode 20 of Bad Love…so let’s get on with the recap of this flashback-filled episode! In the previous episode, the less zombified Na In-jung (Lee Yo-won) and sizzling hot Kang Yong-gi (Kwon Sang-woo) parted ways as promised – right after Yong-gi’s birthday in Spring. Episode 20 starts off with two children playing on the see-saw, which reminds In-jung of Yong-gi because he lovingly hand-crafted a see-saw-inspired bench for her. Kids playing on the see-saw In-jung thinks of Yong-gi when she sees thesee-saw and goes: Yong-gi ah, how are you doing? She thinks about her ex-boyfriend, how good looking he is and what a great catch he would have been…and viewers are soon informed that ONE YEAR has passed since they broke up. The Korean words read: 1 Year Later In-jung has undergone an operation to allow her to play the cello once again and she teaches children how to play the instrument. Bad Love – Episode 19

A nervous and worried Kang Joo-ran (Kim Ga-yeon) waits for her ex-husband Lee Su-hwan (Kim Sung-su) to come out of surgery. Her half brother Kang Yong-gi (Kwon Sang-woo) offers support and tries to comfort her. This part is quite funny because as soon as Yong-gi reassures her that the operation is going fine, a medical attendant rushes out of the operating theater and Joo-ran begins to panic. Don’t worry Joo-ran, medical attendants always run out of operating theaters when they have togo to the bathroom. Su-hwan will be all right. Na In-jung (Lee Yo-won) waits at home during this ordeal and Yong-gi calls her to update her on Su-hwan’s condition. Su-hwan comes out of surgery and everyone waits for him to gain consciousness At this point, i am wondering exactly what kind of illness Su-hwan has. What kind of brain operation did he go for? How come he does not need to shave his head? Some details would be nice. They are pretty vague about Su-hwan’s illness. The operation went fine and Su-hwan wakes up to find Joo-ran sitting virgil at his bedside. He grabs hold of her hand and smiles. After many years of being in a loveless marriage,

Bad Love – Episode 16

Now this episode wasn’t as painful as the previous one. I agree with reader Fraulein, it’s nice to see Na In-jung happy together with Kang Yong-gi. There are so many obstacles that keep these two lovers apart. Whenever they are together, circumstances just aren’t on their side. Okay, now on to the episode recap.Yes, the scenes in sepia (in episode 15) was a dream. It was Kang Yong-gi (Kwon Sang-woo) dreaming that the problems between Na In-jung (Lee Yo-won) and him, would just disappear and she would come to him, and they would live happily ever after. Darn, it’s only a dream! Back to reality…In-Jung visits Yong-gi at his bachelor bungalow in the mountains to tell him that she wants to be nice and rekindle their romance until they really have to part ways in spring (she’s taking Christian’s advice, to leave Yong-gi gently). In-jung approaches Yong-gi with a proposition At first, the passionate and emotional Yong-gi is against this idea. To him it is preposterous and he screams at her to leave. He kicks her out and In-jung is left outside his doorstep. Suddenly she is attacked by vicious stomach pains and Yong-gi, upon discovering her plight, carries the

Bad Love – Episode 15

Directed by: Kwon Gye-hong(권계홍)Script Writer: Lee Yu Jin Cast:Kang Yong-gi (Kwon Sang-woo)Na In-jung (Lee Yo-won)Lee Su-hwan (Kim Sung-su)Kang Joo-ran (Kim Ga-yeon)Lee Sin-yeong (Cha Yae-ryeon)Hwang In-soo / Samchun (Kim Chang-wan)Park Chan-suk (Pang Eun-hwi)The plot of Bad Love is turning from bad to really bad. The sure sign of a plot that flops – when the heroine becomes so unlikable, that you find yourself rooting for the villain. I did not think that i’d say this, but in this episode, i actually liked Lee Sin-yeong more and was rooting for her to get Kang Yong-gi‘s affections. At least she has life in her, which is what’s missing in Na In-jung (as reader yay so aptly puts it, Na In-jung is “a corpse in oversized clothing”). At least Sin-yeong is honest about her feelings and is not afraid to go after the man she likes (despite having other agendas in the beginning). Brazen as she may be, you have to respect her for that.Kang Yong-gi is still in love with Na In-jung despite the fact that she has rejected him many times. Scheming Lee Su-hwan introduces Lee Sin-yeong to him and hopes that the woman who looks like Yong-gi’s ex-lover will make him

Bad Love – Episode 14

This episode is quite amusing. The love triangle has now turned into a foursome. The Jo-ann look-a-like came into the equation! How? Read on to find out… To pick up where we left off in episode 13, Lee Sin-yeong (the Kim Jo-ann look-a-like) was just about to kiss Kang Yong-gi (Gwon Sangu, handsome Chairman of Daehan Construction). Yong-gi happens to catch a glimpse of zombie-like Na In-jung (Yi Yowon) and he immediately goes after her, breaking off the kiss. Darn, I almost kissed her? When Yong-gi catches up with In-jung and tries to explain, she brushes him away before he could say anything. He then says to her “I’m getting tired of you. I don’t want to care for you anymore.” (Both Liz and Orchid let out a loud cheer at this point. Yes! It’s about time Yong-gi!)Yong-gi is quite fed-up with In-jung. The woman loves the man, yet she feels guilty and will not let herself love him. This has been going on for quite some time. That night, Sin-yeong and Lee Su-hwan (Kim Seong-su) have dinner with the late Jo-ann’s mother. President Kim has only praises for Yong-gi. She thinks fondly of him and told the pair that
