Rain cancels performance on SBS Inkigayo

Rain in his bad boy outfit is mad at SBS Rain has canceled his Rainism performance on SBS Inkigayo which will be recorded on 16 November. Why? What happened? Rain is really pissed off with SBS. He was performing Rainism at the 1st Water Grand Awards on SBS broadcast. Towards the end of the song, when Rain was dancing with his cane (magic stick), the music went off, and they went to commercial break!! Leaving Bi in the middle of his dance, and his backup dancers looking surprised. Rain politely bowed and walked off the stage. This slip up will cost SBS Rain’s appearance on Inkigayo. Check out this video from a fancam which managed to capture the unfortunate incident. Source: Popseoul Pic credit: Asia Economy More on Rain on this blog

Korean pop star Rain introduces fashion brand SIX TO FIVE

Rain (real name Jung Ji-hoon) used to be called a “quadruple threat”. He’s a singer, actor, dancer AND model. Now, you can add entrepreneur to that list. After finishing his 5-year contract under JYP Entertainment and leaving mentor Park Jin Young (JYP), Rain set up his own entertainment company, J Tune Entertainment. Okay, we all know that story. Now, J Tune Entertainment is also branching out and has a subsidiary company called J Tune Creative (www.jtcreative.co.kr). The 26 year old “World Star”, is delving into one of his personal passions – the fashion industry. Rain simultaneously makes his 5th album (Rainism) comeback (via the special MBC program Me.Rain.Dance) and showcases the 2009 Fall/Winter collection for his fashion brand “Six to Five”. Actually Rain himself modeled the clothes. He wore this “Six to Five” (식스 투 파이브) ensemble during his tango performance with Kim Su-nah. Recognize it? SIX TO FIVE F/W 2009: Rain wore this redvelvet jacket & jeans ensemble at his comeback show. The term J Tune Creative coinedfor this look is “intelligent vintage style”. Lee Jong Mi, J Tune Creative’s design team chief said, “The pieces Rain wore at his comeback performance are from the 2009 F/W collection. Street

He said hello and asked how I was, and I told him I was fine. And then, (because this is my once in a lifetime chance to tell him!) I told him I was a big fan of his music. He smiled and said ‘thank you!’ and I started kind of singing ‘Nappeun Namja!’. Wish: ‘Thanks for liking my music…now like my movie.’ Rain smiled and laughed and said ‘Oh, Bad Boy!’ and he thanked me for liking his music. I said ‘Kamsahamnida’ for the poster, and he laughed and smiled and told

Rain to release 5th album in October 2008

The Korean superstar is set to release his fifth album in October 2008 and we are glad to report that it’s catered for the Asian market. Whoo hoo! The first Korean single off the album will have versions in English, Chinese and Japanese. Intense: Bi trains for his fighting scenes in Ninja Assassin in Berlin After many years of churning out smash hits such as Bad Guy, Running Away from the Sun, I Do and I’m Coming with his mentor Park Jin-young, all eyes are now on Rain in his latest endeavour since he will be producing his own songs in the upcoming album. The 26-year-old left JYP Entertainment late 2007 to establish his own talent agency J. Tune Entertainment. A rep from J. Rain composed Any Dream song

Really? Man, my one main gripe about Samsung Anycall’s Beijing Olympics theme song was that it wasn’t memorable…there’s no hook to the track. And today, I learned that the Energizer Bunny is the person who composed the song! Nice try, Rain…but no dice. Songwriter Rain: ‘What? You don’t like my song? Well, stuff it.’ On March 26, J-Tune Entertainment revealed that Rain (real name Jeong Ji-hoon) wrote, composed and produced Any Dream, which is about bulldozing through challenges to fulfill one’s dream. Twist ‘n Turn: ‘And after that triple back flip, you lift your rightleg up like so.’ Apart from composing the track, Rain also choreographed the dance in the music video. It is also revealed that Rain’s creative juices started flowing while he was in Los Angeles for post-production work on Speed Racer. The 26-year-old collaborated with Lee Hyun-do to compose Any Dream. Why does Lee Hyun-do sound familiar? Well, he’s the Korean producer who will be working with Bi on a cover of Kung Fu Fighting, the disco smash hit for the OST of Dreamworks’ animated flick Kung Fu Panda. Rain vs. B-Boys in latest Samsung Anycall CF

The Energizer Bunny and his gang launch into a dance battle with a team of B-Boys who kick their @s$e$…but wait, we’re talking about Rain here. Things wouldn’t be complete if he doesn’t bounce back – better than before. Close: Me and my Samsung That’s the premise of Rain‘s brand new Samsung Anycall music video, which is about working hard to achieve one’s dream — Any Dream. The MV will be edited into a 15-second commercial clip to be aired in conjunction with the 2008 Beijing Olympics! Rain sings in Mandarin and speaks, like, one line in Mandarin. Currently, there are two versions of the MV at YouTube – the full version (8:26) and short version (4:24). As a Rain fan, I found the full version a little too long and boring, the song’s so-so and isn’t memorable. The fun bits, which are available in the short version as well (above), is when the defeated Rain forms a new dance group…and the people who sign up are dancers wannabe from various backgrounds – a chef & a wage earner – to name a few. However, under the tutelage of Rain and the talent of the only girl in the group,

Rain is Samsung Anycall's man

Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) has been appointed Samsung Anycall‘s Beijing Olympic mascot image ambassador. Korean world star Rain is Samsung Anycall’s Image Ambassador for the 2008 Beijing Olympics Rain at the Samsung Anycall Press Conference in Beijing. The Chinese ladies admire him while he says a couple of words. What are the Energizer Bunny’s responsibilities as image ambassador? Rain will sing the Samsung Anycall Olympic theme song and appear in the music video (MV) as well. Samsung has also introduced the “Rain Phone”. Although there has been countless celebrities promoting Samsung Anycall phones in the past, this is the first time Samsung has named a phone after an artist. What an honour for Bi. Rain Phone: First time ever – Samsung Anycall names a phone after an artist. Samsung hopes to increase sales of this phone, especially during the Olympic season. Samsung’s philosophy – “never stop dreaming, never give up, keep pursuing your dreams ‘till they come true” can be reflected in Rain’s own pursuit of his dreams. This is why he has been chosen to represent the mega company at one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events. Rain and Liu Xuan (Samsung CEO, China) at the Samsung Anycall Rain
