Satisfying lunch at Nakwon restaurant

Dining out: Looking for a nice Korean restaurant to bring friendsand family to? Try Nakwon. First of all, the price was right – RM95 for a very satisfying meal for 5 people (we are small eaters, though). We received a RM8.40 discount while lunching at Nakwon in Taman Danau Desa recently. 1st floor: Nakwon restaurant at Taman Danau Desa, Kuala Lumpur We don’t really know the reason – the waiter just showed us the bill with the discount and when asked for further clarification…well, he couldn’t really communicate effectively in English. Heh, we did not complain. To our Muslim readers, Nakwon is non-halal. We had BBQ-ed pork. The ambience was lovely and the group made a beeline for the low-table dining experience. Once we were comfortably seated on the floor, we placed our order. Don’t be shocked when you see the prices (for the meat) in the menu. They are stated as RMxx/pax but in actual fact, the price is for “per portion”. Yes it means they will not charge each person in your group RMxx for the dish. The restaurant is located on the first floor, right above the Sri Kota supermarket in Taman Danau Desa, so it has

In search of authentic Korean Food in Malaysia

Let me tell you about a slightly different Korean dining experience Liz and I had a couple of days ago. We went for lunch with our Korean teacher (선생님) on Deepavali day. We decided to visit Sri Hartamas which is densely populated with Korean restaurants and marts. There must be lots of Korean expats living in this area. no? Okay, we were about to go to a local (meaning Malaysian) or Japanese food restaurant because we were all sick of the commercialized Korean fare you get at the restaurants here. Kimchi Jjigae, Korean BBQ, etc. We don’t want those…WE WANT AUTHENTIC KOREAN COOKING! At least our 선생님 is pining for some! Then we spotted Han Sung Korean restaurant with its menu proudly displayed outside the restaurant. After a quick flip through the menu, 선생님’s eyes grew larger and she was excited to see “sundae” on the menu. “Sundae” (순대) is typical Korean style sausage made from pigs innards. Okay, it is at this point in time that i will tell you that this Korean food joint is non-halal. Leaving all notions of going to another restaurant, 선생님 wanted to eat at this place now! And so we ventured into the

About Us

Contact us at: 2kpopped@gmail.com The K-popped! story It all started with a pair of concert tickets won from a contest organised by a local telco service provider. They were front-row seats to Rain’s I’m Coming concert in Kuala Lumpur in January 2007. Orchid and I went to the concert knowing next to nothing about the Korean superstar and got, what we’d like to call “K-popped” that very night. We then started blogging about Korean stars at our respective personal blogs (don’t bother looking for them, they are not available anymore) and eventually decided to dedicate a blog to our rapidly-growing new-found passion. And so, K-popped! (k-popped.com) was born in June 2007. Our passion and enthusiasm proved to be contagious, and soon, what started out with two persons quickly turned into a three-(wo)man operation in August 2007. The K-popped! Trio – Liz, Orchid, & Rooster – was formed and we have been enthusiastically sharing our findings on all things Korean with our readers. Since the Hallyu (Korean Wave) is fueled by the entertainment industry, the bulk of our entries are on the K-entertainment scene. We also monitor the rise of the Hallyu in Malaysia. Did you know that every other local
