Tough Choices for Best Asia Act in the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards

Tough choices for the coming 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) as Super Junior, Han Geng and Yuna have been nominated in the BEST ASIA ACT category!

Here is a good dilemma for all you Malaysian ELFs, how would you decide the winner of a three-way tie between Super Junior, Han Geng (former member of Super Junior, who has since gone solo in 2010) and local favourite, Yuna? Well, you better have your answer ready now as all three acts have been nominated in the same sub-category for the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs)!

Who will you be voting for? Let us know!

Stemming from the immense support for Big Bang in last year’s voting for the “Best Worldwide Act” (Big Bang was a nominee under “World Wide Act, Asia Pacific” and went on to grab the title), the MTV EMAs have decided on the inclusion of a brand-new sub-category for the “Best Asian Act” award, this year. Other nominees up for the “Best Asian Act” award besides the aforementioned three include Taiwanese pop princess, Jolin Tsai as well as another pop group, EXILE from Japan.

The voting process for “Best Asian Act” commences on Sept 17th through Oct 14th for netizens living in South East Asia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. The act emerging victorious from this preliminary online voting will then go on to vie for a spot as the Worldwide Act!

Meanwhile, Psy has gone one step further than the rest by being nominated in the “Best Video” category for the 2012 MTV EMAs! “Gangnam Style” will be competing for the MTV juries’ affection against other international favourites like Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake,” Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night”, M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” and Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris’ “We Found Love”.

Psy’s viral music video has recently surpassed the 200 million view mark on YouTube and you can bet that the number will continue to escalate as he is set to return to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for a proper performance on Sept 19th, after a brief appearance a few weeks back.

The 2012 MTV EMAs will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, on Nov 11th.
