Korean Film Festival to be held in Malaysia, August 20 – 23, 2015

4 days of delight for Korean movie fans in Malaysia as the best of Korean films will be available for free at the Korean Film Festival 2015 from August 20 – 23. Organized by The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia, The Korean Film Festival offers Korean film lovers a chance to experience the vibrancy of the Korean film industry. 10 films will be shown in selected Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak.  With the screening of the films during this 4 day fest, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea aims to introduce Korean culture and tradition to the Malaysian community.

At the media launch of the Korean Film Festival 2015, Minister Yoon Chang Yul, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea said “On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, I am delighted to announce that the Korean Film Festival is back to Malaysia. We are excited about organizing this Korean Film Festival 2015. We hope to bring the cultures of Korea and Malaysia closer through this initiative and hence strengthen the ties between our two nations.”

Fans will be able to experience films with a diverse selection of genres, from recent classics as well as award winning films, which includes drama, action-thriller, heart-warming romance movies and animation. The movie selections will surely please the fans and offers cinematic insight into contemporary Korean culture.

“We are thrilled to offer Korean film-lovers a diverse showcase of world cinema exploring the global Korean experience. The four days event is going to be filled with fun and exciting Korean movies that cater the audiences from across all age groups. The festival features a line-up of ten films which are selected among the best of Korean cinema. The movie line-up includes dramatic features, fascinating animes and comedies,” said Mr Yoon Chang Yul.

Movies selected for the screening includes: multi-award winning thriller The Thieves, Confession of Murder, romance drama, All About My Wife, Marriage Blue, history movie The Front Line, family drama, My Paparotti, Duresori: The Voice of the East, comedy Man on the Edge and animation films, The King of Pigs and Green Days: Dinosaur and I.

All the movies will be available for free based on complimentary passes which can be redeemed via www.koreanfilmfestival.com.my, www.gsc.com.my, My Maxis Mobile App, The Star and Harian Metro. Upon receiving the complimentary passes, Korean movie fans can then proceed the these selected GSCs to redeem their tickets while stocks last – GSC Pavilion KL, GSC 1 Utama, GSC Gurney Plaza Penang, GSC CityONE Megamall Kuching and GSC Suria Sabah Kota Kinabalu. Redemptions can be made from August 20 – 23.
