[Event Coverage] KCON LA 2018 Breaks Record With 94,000 In Attendance!

KCON 2018 LA Presented by Toyota.

This past weekend on August 10th through the 12th, KCON LA took place in the heart of downtown Los Angeles at both the Los Angeles Convention Center, and Staples Center. With both events combined, a grand total of 147,000 fans from all over the world gathered to celebrate K-POP and Hallyu culture!



Since the launch of KCON in 2012, this year gave fans even more opportunities to interact with their stars than in previous years! These opportunities included:

  • Star Live Talka live talk show on the KCON convention stage with the artists
  • Star Squarea unique once in a lifetime opportunity to take selfies with the stars
  • KLUB KCONa dance night event featuring artists from the KCON line-up and a live DJ
  • Artists Engagementsthe most commonly known meet & greet sessions with hi-touch
  • Beauty Show – a live talk show with artists sharing their beauty secret
  • Super Rookie Showcasethe newest addition from KCON with performances from up and coming acts



Another grand highlight of KCON was their enhanced Beauty Block which included over 50 highly popular K-Beauty brand names such as Laneige, Innisfree, Mamonde, The Face Shop, and Olive Young. Many of these brands sold their most famous products on site, while also giving special KCON-only deals! Also spotted around Beauty Block were top beauty influencers including Joan Kim, Ivan Lam, Edward Avila, Heyitsfeiii, Karen Yeung, Sunny’s Channel, and famous Model/CEO Irene Kim. Beauty influencers took part in beauty panels, M&G’s, workshops, and live-demonstrations on the convention floor.

The convention held over 180 panels and workshops showcasing different types of Hallyu culture such us K-POP, K-Drama, beauty, food, skincare, video production, and many more! KCON even held an opportunity to audition for a leading Korean talent agency.

The Dance Workshop featured popular dance artists including 1Million Dance Studio, The First Bite, and Ellen & Brian. Fans could participate in learning the choreography to their favorite KCON artists songs, participate in the popular Random Dance Play, and meet other fans of K-POP dance!



KCON 2018 hit an outstanding number of 208 businesses & brands participating including McDonald’s, LG, State Farm, Verizon, Warner Bros., Asiana Airlines, Bibigo, CGV, and Amore Pacific.

Brought back by popular demand the KCON Food Street was held just outside of the convention center, operating during the same time as KCON! Over 30 food names were available including Bibigo, Seoul Sausage, Main Squeeze, Swirls Potato, and other delicious choices. Food Street offered fans convenient access to delicious Korean food just minutes away from the convention doors!

This year’s concert featured performances from top K-POP artists Ailee, Crush, Chung Ha, fromis_9, Dynamic Duo, Golden Child, IMFACT, IN2IT, Momoland, Nu’est W, Pentagon, Seventeen, Twice, and WannaOne. Special guests included Davichi, Dreamcatcher, Roy Kim, Mia, and Jun Sung Ahn making this year’s line-up having the most artists to date!
