Emerging K-pop Star Holland to Launch Mini Album Crowdfunding Project
South Korea’s first openly gay singer Holland has launched a crowdfunding project with MyMusicTaste to raise money for his new mini album.
In collaboration with MyMusicTaste, an online service that allows music fans to request their favorite artists’ live performance, Holland’s crowdfunding project aims to raise US $50,000 to produce a new mini album and music video. When the project closes and the funding goal is reached, supporters will be rewarded with various benefits, such as a special 1:1 meal date with Holland and special meet & greet time.
All those who contribute (pledge Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond packages) by September 9, 18:00 KST will get their mini album signed by Holland when the project is successfully completed. Holland’s mini album crowdfunding project will close on October 20, at 18:00 KST.
After making a debut in January as the first Korean singer to begin his career while openly addressing his sexuality, Holland has quickly caught the attention of K-pop fans around the world, gaining a sizable following on social media. ‘Neverland,’ his debut single that depicts a same-sex romance between two men, brought a sensation to Korea where homosexuality is rarely addressed in pop culture – the music video garnered international attention, racking up over 9.6 million views on YouTube since its release. Recognized for his social influence, this revolutionary singer has been featured in medias like Billboard, Forbes, and Cosmopolitan, and was recently selected as the winner of the 2018 Dazed 100, winning over a number of Hollywood stars such as Sadie Sink and Millicent Simmonds.
