Eating right for beautiful skin

We are what we eat. Our beauty potions and eDiva’s best jade roller for face can only do so much if we eat nothing but fast food and processed food. If we want beautiful skin, we need to eat for it.

What we should eat :

Red, yellow and green

Include as much fruits and vegetables in your diet as you can. They are rich in antioxidants that help us fight free radicals which damage our skin’s DNA and promote skin aging. The general rule is the brighter and deeper the color, the higher their antioxidant content. For example, tomatoes are rich in lycopene which fights skin aging, heart disease and cancer. The redder the tomato, the higher it’s lycopene content. But don’t limit your veggies to these 3 colors. Vegetables in purple, like purple cabbage, or orange, like carrots, are rich in antioxidants too. Eating these pigmented vegetables bring almost immediate results. Complement it with eDiva’s best jade roller for face during your skincare routine and you’ll have the best skin you’ve ever had!

Good fats

Not all fats are bad for us. There are good fats from different food sources that helps us absorb the nutrients from the food we eat better. Kind of like using eDiva’s best jade roller for face, and how it makes our skin absorb our products better. Fat from fish is rich in Omega-3 which helps keep our skin moisturized, fights inflammation and skin-related autoimmune conditions. Avocado oil is rich in vitamin E, biotin, potassium, lecithin and other antioxidants that love to love our skin. This fruit keeps our skin elastic, spurs collagen production and protects it from oxidative damage.  Nuts like walnuts and sunflower are rich in Omega-3, protein and other vitamins that our skin needs to heal, regenerate and function properly.

Soy

Soy is rich in isoflavones which reduce the appearance of wrinkles, promote collagen production and skin elasticity, and help protect our skin from UV rays. However, make sure that you’re eating non-GMO soy. Most soy is genetically modified which are proven to have adverse effects in our bodies if consumed regularly over a long period of time.

What we should avoid

Refined sugar

Sugar naturally occurs in fruits and vegetables. This kind of sugar is healthy in the sense we always eat them with their flesh and water content, making us feel satiated before we start consuming beyond healthy levels. Refined sugar is another story. We add them to our drinks, baked products and food stuff that it’s so easy to abuse them. Too much sugar in our bodies literally depletes our collagen and elastin levels.

Refined carbohydrates

Refined carbohydrates are converted into sugar during digestion. This causes our insulin to spike and trigger our skin to overproduce oil. Think of it as sleeping with the enemy. Some of our most of our favorite comfort food like pasta, pizza, white rice and bread fall under this food group.

Dairy

The verdict isn’t out on dairy products, but they do promote inflammation. Expect that while they may not cause your acne, they can worsen it or slow down recovery. Another cause for concern is the hormones and anti-biotics cows are treated with find their way into dairy products. Like GMO food, when consumed regularly over a long period of time they affect adversely our bodies on a cellular level.
