[Event Coverage] U Mobile With Upfront Present HYUKOH Live in Malaysia
South Korean’s indie rock band HYUKOH was in town for their “24: How To Find True Love and Happiness” world tour. The show was organized by U-mobile and Upfront Arena and held at KL Live Centre on 20th February, 2019 (Wednesday). Despite being on a weekday, the venue was pretty packed with excited fans (wow).

At the beginning of the night, concert-goers waited with positive, upbeat energy in anticipation for HYUKOH. Straight from the beginning, everything was fantastic. The show kicked off with the opening act called ‘Lost Spaces’– an upcoming local indie-pop band, shook everyone thoroughly with their groovy yet ambient music.

Then, the moment everyone has been waiting for…

The crowd went cray on and lost it the moment the members took their positions on the stage and kicked off their set with upbeat, feel-good tracks “SkyWorld”, “WI ING WI ING” and “Graduation”. The band then played up the upbeat “Panda Bear”, followed by “2002” and “Wanli”.

After first few songs, Oh Hyuk (vocal) explained to the crowd the reason why they choose “24: How To Find True Love and Happiness” as the title was because of him. He then continues.. “Everyone have to find their true love and happiness. Yeah, so hope you guys can find it soon. Thank you”. Awwww

Later the band continued the show with “Hooka”, “Goodbye Seoul”, and slowing it down with “Gang Gang Schiele” and “Gondry” which had everyone singing along to. Each song they performed was full of energy and soulful that you could just feel the heart and soul these guys put into each track. Did I mention how versatile Oh Hyuk’s voice is? It was magically beautiful and soulful.
Nothing is more nostalgic than a classic rock sounding song and an entire audience singing along. It was amazing. Especially during “Tomboy”, the whole venue turned into galaxy of stars when the crowd turned on their mobile flashlights and singing along swaying to the song and this lasted til “Love Ya”.

The band ended the night with three encore songs – upbeat favorites “Tokyo Inn”, “Comes and Goes” and “Settled Down”, before taking a group photo with the crowd.
