KCON New York 2019 Draws 55,000 to their 2 Day Festival
KCON 2019 NEW YORK AWES MORE THAN 55,000 K-POP FANS AT THE JAVITS CENTER AND MADISON SQUARE GARDEN THIS PAST WEEKEND
Panels, Workshops and Two Mega-Concerts Highlighted a Jam-Packed Schedule of Events Dedicated to Every Aspect of Korean Pop Culture – from Music to Food, Beauty and More
KCON USA presented by Toyota, the world’s largest Korean culture convention and music festival, moved to Manhattan for the first time ever this year at the Javits Center and Madison Square Garden. KCON 2019 NY took place July 6 and 7 and drew an audience of more than 55,000.
This year, concert goers enjoyed a lineup of some of the biggest K-pop acts today. These included ATEEZ, AB6IX, fromis_9, IZ*ONE, (G)I-DLE, NU’EST, SEVENTEEN, THE BOYZ, SF9, TXT and VERIVERY. There were also plenty of panels and meet & greets with some of the hottest influencers of the scene like Big Marvel, Kevin Woo, ReacttotheK, and JRE.
The convention brought back over 100 popular panels and workshops as well as adding new elements in their expansion to the Javits Center. Brand new piece for 2019 was KCON Studio where creators in beauty, music, gaming, food and more as well as the KCON line-up artists came together to create videos in front of a live audience. New York Comic Con partnered with KCON for the first ever K-Pop and Comics: When Fandoms Collide panel. The fan favorite “All Day Dance Workshop” was back for another year of hundred of fans dancing to the same K-pop choreography.
As always, KCON provided the fans the most access to interact with their favorite stars. Super Rookie Showcase gave fans chances to discover and fall in love with the up and coming artists and Star Live Talk, a mini live talk show returning from last year after so much success, allowed fans to get even closer to their favorite artists. This year’s lineup and program strengthened KCON’s value and identity as a true fan festival by expanding artist engagement programs and giving even more power to the fans.
Over 72 brands joined KCON 2019 NY. Sponsors included Toyota, Asiana Airlines, Bibigo, Red Baron, McDonalds, Kakao Friends, isoi, Tous Le Jour, Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp.
On August 15-18, KCON 2019 USA will continue as it returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center and Staples Center and is expanding to four days this year. The event drew more than 94,000 attendees last year in LA. The concert lineup so far includes AB6IX, ATEEZ, CHUNG HA, EVERGLOW, IZ*ONE, MAMAMOO, MOMOLAND, NU’EST, ONEUS, Stray Kids, and VERIVERY, with more to be announced this week. Concert tickets go on sale July 12th at 12:00pm PT while convention tickets (including add-on programs) go on-sale July 15th at 12:00pm PT.
