Spotify Launches RADAR Korea to Support Emerging Korean Artist

Today, in the next step of the RADAR journey, Spotify is announcing its latest playlist addition – RADAR Korea – focused on unearthing up-and-coming Korean rookie artists across a full spectrum of genres. From K-Pop, hip-hop, indie rock to R&B, Korean music fans around the world can look forward to discovering a myriad of new and emerging sounds on RADAR Korea, with fresh hits delivered straight from Korea’s dynamic music scene onto Spotify’s global platform.

Housed under RADAR, Spotify’s global emerging artist program, RADAR Korea represents Spotify’s commitment to supporting emerging artists from the Korean music scene, harnessing the strength of the platform to deepen new artist connections to their audience and bring them to the global stage. Spotify’s RADAR Korea playlist features the must-know tracks from bubbling artists such as AleXa, BIBI, A.C.E and
more.

AleXa expressed her excitement being a RADAR artist, “It is a big honour and I’m very grateful for this opportunity to be able to share my music in this space. Thank you so much, Spotify! The Korean music genre is such a worldwide phenomenon, it’s always incredible to hear where all my beautiful fans are from and having my music touch people’s lives in a good way.”

Get to know some of the artists involved in RADAR Korea:

  • AleXa – Fresh off the release of her latest single “VILLAIN”, K-Pop sensation AleXa’s electric dance moves and catchy hits has already won the hearts of many. A rising female solo artist to watch, AleXa’s 2019 powerful debut showcased the young star as a force to be reckoned with in the K-Pop world, quickly gaining fans on an international level.

 

  • BIBI – An emerging R&B artist from South Korea, BIBI’s unique sound is distinguished by her rich
    vocals with serious singing, rapping and songwriting skills. Since her debut in 2019, she has
    already racked up an impressive discography like “KAZINO”, “The Way You Look Tonight” and
    Step?” showcasing the artist’s vocal diversity.

 

  • A.C.E – Five-member boy group A.C.E first captivated fans busking on the streets of the hip
    Hongdae district in Seoul. They’ve since amassed a following of their own after their debut in 2017,
    with tracks like “CACTUS”, “SAVAGE” and “Under Cover”.

 

Since RADAR launched in March 2020, Spotify has supported and helped spotlight breakthrough artists from around the region such as August Wahh (Philippines), Vicky Chen (Taiwan), Mahen and Mawar De Jongh (Indonesia) and more. Existing RADAR playlists – RADAR Philippines, RADAR 新勢力 and RADAR Indonesia – have also been updated with a fresh slate of bubbling new artists and must-know tracks to check out.

Some new names to watch out for in the Mandopop scene include emerging hip-hop Taiwanese group Asiaboy 禁藥王 & Lizi栗子 and rising lo-fi jazzhop artist ?te with her spellbinding track mixing English and Mandarin.
