#WeGoTwogether To…INDONESIA with Lee Seung-gi and Jasper Liu

Twogether has made its way to the Netflix Top 10 daily rankings in over 5 countries which proves that there is no better duo to travel the region with than Asian superstars Lee Seung-gi and Jasper Liu. We’ve watched them trek across Indonesia, Thailand and Nepal and let’s face it – the itch to travel is real!

The pair reminds us that the best part about going on a holiday is experiencing different cultures and cuisines, and beautiful sceneries that will act like food for the soul. On the other hand, the worst part is the planning – working around tight budgets, endless choice of activities and the strap for time!

We’re already halfway through 2020 and many of us have yet to make time for a getaway. With travel still restricted around the world, what better time to sit down and plan out your holidays in advance by taking a page out of Jasper and Seung-gi’s itinerary, courtesy of their lovely fans.

#WeGoTwogether To: Yogyakarta, Indonesia

The city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is where Seung-gi and Jasper meet, the home of Javanese culture and fine arts, and two UNESCO Heritage sites.

Now, let’s start with the basics. Seung-gi and Jasper are given a grand total of IDR 4,500,000 (RM1,340) to spend in Yogyakarta,  an average amount for foreign tourists visiting. We’re sure you won’t be spending on an iced Americano at Incheon Airport like Seung-gi did (he tried passing it off as a ‘donation for world peace’), so that’s another IDR 430,000 in your pocket!

While traveling from Adisutjipto International Airport to their accommodation, the pair makes a pit stop at Jalan Malioboro, a vibrant shopping street with buskers and food stalls, and hops on to a becak – costing them a total of IDR 125,000 (RM37).

Next, you’ll need to rent a car for IDR 350,000 (RM104) and finally, a place to put on those silk pyjamas – a night’s stay at Griya Langen Guesthouse will cost you around IDR 300,000 (RM90). Now that we’ve got that sorted – let’s get to the fun sightseeing!

1. Goa Jomblang

Located in Semanu, Goa Jomblang is a vertical cave adventure that is perfect for thrill seekers as you’ll need to abseil 200ft down via a manual pulley system, and cross a mud pit to get to the main attraction – the ‘Light of Heaven’ that comes through a hole above. The cave was formed over thousands of years ago by underground rivers and rainwater that eroded its surrounding rocks.

This was the first destination visited by Seung-gi and Jasper where they found their first clue in the golden genie lamp.

Entrance Fee: IDR 500,000 (RM149) per person

2. Prambanan Temple

Built around the 9th or 10th century, the magnificent Prambanan Temple was destroyed by earthquakes in Indonesia. The structures seen today have been reassembled by locals. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991, the three temples serve three principal Hindu deities – Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu.

In a game of cepat-cepat, Seung-gi had to make sure the gasing spins while Jasper races off to take pictures of the answers to the quiz about Hindu culture. The duo pass the test and earn the final clue to meet their fan!

Entrance Fee: IDR 350,000 (RM104) per person

#WeGoTwogether To: Bali, Indonesia

Seung-gi and Jasper land in Bali, Indonesia, also known as the Island of the Gods, known for its beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets.

Let’s get back to the basics. The average traveller spends approximately IDR 6,500,000 (RM1, 938) for a day trip in Bali. The journey starts with a taxi ride from Ngurah Rai International Airport to a 3-star hotel in Nusa Dua area, Ula Villas Bali, costing the duo IDR 132, 000 (RM39). The hotel room is an additional IDR 2,200,000 (RM656), while rental for a yellow 1961 Holden EK ‘Special’ Sedan Hydra-Maticburns costs another IDR 350,000 (RM104).

It’s time for the sun and sky!

1. Nusa Dua Beach

Next up on the list is Nusa Dua Beach where ‘Tom and Jerry’ go boat and harpoon fishing with a challenge to find a catch of the day that’s over four inches long. This experience might break the bank but surely, the crystal blue waters are well worth IDR 900,000 (RM268) per person.

Jasper is confident and channels Aquaman, calling the sea his home, while Seung-gi thinks that fishing is 70% luck. Evidently, both men gave up their fishermen dreams and used the ‘Golden Key’, so the coach caught the sea creatures for them instead.

2. Sawangan Beach

The duo heads to Sawangan Beach for their next challenge where Jasper draws pictures in the sand and Seung-gi has to guess at least five of them correctly while paragliding (that costs a whopping IDR 1,200,000 (RM 358) per person).

Even up in the air, Seung-gi manages to guess five pictures correctly and the duo succeeds and progresses to the next level.

3. Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park

Seung-gi and Jasper arrive at their final destination in Bali at the impressive Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park that is home to a 120m-tall monument statue of Garuda – the largest 66m monument dedicated to Hindu deity Vishnu on earth.

The pair are greeted with a performance of Kecak dance, a traditional custom to drive out evil spirits. It also so happens to be the pair’s next challenge: there are five words made up of four Korean letters that are chanted by the group and they have to guess one or more phrases to complete the mission. After much concentration from the duo, they managed to crack the ‘Iced Tea’ code and move on to a peaceful yoga session in Canggu.
