Somehow Family is a 12-episode comedy drama starring Sung Dong-il (Sisyphus: The Myth, Miss Hammurabi, Reply 1988), Jin Hee-kyung (When the Weather is Fine, Doctor Prisoner, Fight for My Way) and Kim Kwang-kyu (Extracurricular, Diary of a Prosecutor, Spring Turns to Spring). This is a drama that tells the story of a married couple who runs a boarding house near the airport.
Sung Dong-il and Jin Hee-kyung are a married couple that runs a boarding house near the airport and live together with various people who work there. Their daughter Sung Ha-neul (Kwon Eun-bin), who is a model student, drops out of school and returns to Korea in secret. She hides from them with the help of Kim Kwang-kyu, a budding trot singer who lives next door, and Oh Hyun-kyung, her mother’s best friend.
Somehow Family explores the popular concept of a ‘Share House’ (boarding house) with an exciting new format and the support of a strong cast. The drama sheds light on the stories of individuals who do not share blood relations, but nevertheless, forge strong bonds and become a true family. Using the actors’ actual names, the drama brings the audience closer to the characters and the heart of the story.
Sung Dong-il is a veteran actor who is a household name in Korea. He continues to win the hearts of the audience with his effortless and convincing acting in a wide range of genres. Sung Dong-il is also well-loved for his chemistry with his on-screen daughters in the renowned “Reply” series, and audiences are looking forward to watch him bond with a whole new family.
