4 Reasons Why HOMETOWN CHA-CHA-CHA Has All The Makings Of A Perfect Rom-Com

The rom-com we’ve all been waiting for!

Upcoming rom-com series Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is prepared to steal our hearts with a heart-fluttering love story set in a beautiful seaside village. Whether you’re searching for a sweet escape or looking for a new feel-good story to enjoy, there’s so much to love and so much to be excited about!

Here are four key reasons why Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is the perfect rom-com to watch this season:

1. It Stars Popular Rom-Com Actors

Shin Min-a is widely considered as a rom-com queen, having starred in popular romance dramas like Tomorrow With You, Oh My Venus, and My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho. She’s known for portraying lovable characters and has excellent chemistry with her co-stars. It’s been a few years since she’s starred in a rom-com, so there is great anticipation about her return to the genre.

Meanwhile, Kim Seon-ho is best known for inducing second lead syndrome through his role in Start-Up, but he’s been pulling our heartstrings way before that through shows like Welcome to Waikiki 2, 100 Days My Prince, and Strongest Deliveryman. With the two of them together, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is guaranteed to delight.

2. There’s Plenty of Breathtaking Scenery

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is set in the fictional seaside village of Gongjin, which is the real-life seaport city of Pohang, and it is quite gorgeous. From the stunning beach to the cute village locations, an abundant amount of scenic views await us.  The cast members themselves raved about the views and talked about how looking at the ocean brought them comfort and calm. While it may be difficult to travel to such spectacular landscapes these days, we can enjoy the view vicariously through the series. Even the village alleyways provide enjoyable sights.

3. The Characters Are Interesting Yet Relatable

You don’t have to worry about encountering evil villains and super geniuses in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-a) is a dentist who looks like she’s got it all together but actually has an adorable clumsy side. Hong Du-sik has so many certifications and is very talented in a diverse range of jobs, but is technically unemployed. Ji Seong-hyeon (Lee Sang-yi) is a talented variety show producer who is passionate about his job and really loves food. On top of the leads, there are also many other quirky and appealing villagers and characters to love.

4. It’s a Drama with a Healing Message

Director Yu Je-won describes Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha as a drama that’s not about big events, but rather the small stories in daily life with a message about healing and warmth. The funny and heartwarming stories about the characters’ lives will make us laugh and warm our hearts. As a Saturday-Sunday drama, it’s the perfect weekend show to watch as we relax and unwind after a long, stressful week. All of the elements combine together to create a nice feel-good effect.

Tune in to Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha when it premieres on 28 August at 10PM MYT with new episodes every Saturday and Sunday, only on Netflix!
