Prior to the premiere of the long awaited romance drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha“, director Yu Je Won and actors Kim Seon Ho, Shin Min Ah and Lee Sang Yi appeared in a press conference on Tuesday. The quartet shared stories from the filming and showed their great chemistry during the short event hosted by Park Kyung Lim.
When asked what made them decided to be in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah mentioned that when they read the script, they felt drawn to the heartwarming story and the story and characters really stole their hearts. Lee Sang Yi shared the same sentiment that the story was fun and intriguing, especially when the background is a seaside village and that he get to be in the same project as the two lead actors.
Kim Seon Ho will be playing the role of Hong Du Sik, an unemployed man who is the village’s go-to guy. Despite being jobless, ‘Handyman Hong’ is a man with a lot of talent and licenses under his belt. Shin Min Ah stars as Yoon Hye Jin, a perfectionist but adorable and clumsy dentist. Lee Sang Yi plays Ji Seong Hyeon, a talented variety show producer who is passionate about his job and really loves food.
All three actors prepared a lot for their characters, especially Kim Seon Ho since his character is someone with a lot of certifications. He had to learn a lot of skills and personally got interested in real estate as it was one of Du Sik’s expertise. Shin Min Ah prepared by visiting and observing her dentist at work while Lee Sang Yi watched TVN variety show PDs like Na Youngseok and Kim Taeho.
The chemistry for both Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah is surely one of the most awaited parts of this drama. Dubbed as Sik-Hye (rice punch) couple by local fans, Shin Min Ah said that she’s aware of the high expectations for the two main characters and that their chemistry on set was great. Kim Seon Ho agreed and said Min Ah would always bring laughter to the set with her jokes.
Lee Sang Yi also shared that he is grateful to be in Director Yu’s new project and when it comes to acting, he learned a lot from Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah as his seniors. Known as a good singer too, Lee Sang Yi was asked if he would be ready to sing soundtrack for Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, to which he responded that if there is an opportunity to do so, he would be glad to sing for the OST.
