K-series Jirisan reveals Gianna Jun, Ju Ji-hoon’s rescues across realms while hot on the murderer’s trail

The plot thickens and the mystery deepens as iQiyi’s original Korean drama series Jirisan reveals a line of serial murder cases in its recently aired episodes. Starring wheelchair bound lead actress Gianna Jun (Seo Yi-Kang) and a comatose lead actor Ju Ji-hoon (Kang Hyun-Jo), both were seen working together across realms to rescue victims on a mountain by communicating with signs that only they knew.

Created and directed by Lee Eung-bok (who also directed Descendants of The Sun, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God), Jirisan has created a massive global buzz and garnered ratings which exceeded double digits in Korea.

As more mysteries unfolded, a series of murder cases pushed the duo to their limits and puts them to the test. From mountain climbers being poisoned to villagers blown up and killed by ‘potato bombs’, both Jun and Ju are scrambling to shed some light to the tragedies.

Not forgetting Jirisan’s latest poster reveal, which has also kept viewers on their toes while guessing its mysterious visuals. An image of Ju pictured in a white bloodstained jacket and hunched over in the forest accompanies a line which reads “The mountain will reveal something again. What exactly will happen…” What will the big reveal be? Viewers will just have to tune in to find out!

In the upcoming episodes, viewers can expect to learn about Ju’s tragic past and discover new deadly mysteries with mindboggling reveals. Light will also be finally shed on the mysterious poster released previously with a line beside Jun which read “A place I can’t climb again after that day” together with another line beside Ju which read “A place I can’t break away from after that day”. Although it is known that those lines respectively describes a wheelchair bound Jun and a comatose Ju, viewers will discover how they come together across realms to help those in need.

Meanwhile, Haedong branch lead Jo Dae-jin, Sung Dong-il becomes a murder suspect when Jun discovers a blood-stained yellow ribbon in his desk drawer, one which is similar to that held by the victim. Jun’s suspicion grows as she finds out that the dates of the murdered victims correspond with the days Sung was off duty. In a shocking plot twist, a suspect with five scratches on the back of his hand suddenly appears and is believed to be related to the administrative officer Lee Yang-sun. With these clues and reveals, who exactly is the murderer? What are truths and what are lies? The suspense lives on.

Comatose Ju continues to wander Jirisan as a spirit and is known as the ‘messenger from hell’ among the villagers and mountain climbers. Those who sees him is rumoured to be faced with a deadly destiny of their own. The latest episode also revealed Ju’s newfound horrifying ability to see clues as to what happens to victims on the mountain in his visions.

That’s not all; a park ranger team also tries to stop illegal religious activities from being carried out on Jirisan only to have a tragedy almost taking place. Jun and Ju then makes a shocking discovery of a rock structure which may be a sign or omen of things to come.

Jirisan will also be showcasing its stellar music line up for its OST featuring BTS’s Jin, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, NELL’s Kim Jong Wan, Gaho and K-drama favourites Paul Kim, Kim Feel, Jukjae, Lee Sungyeol, O3ohn, Rothy and others. The first song which will debut is Destiny by Kim Feel – a strong moving piece which captures the determination and will power of Jirisan park rangers.

Jirisan follows the team of national park rangers who are responsible for search and rescue on Jirisan. Experienced ranger (played by Gianna Jun) and rookie ranger (played by Ju Ji-hoon) are set to unravel the secrets of the peak.
