2021 Mnet ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS Recap

It was another memorable night at the World’s No.1 K-pop music awards ceremony, 2021 MAMA – from star-studded lineup of K-pop artists to legendary performances showcasing state-of-the-art technology.

BTS once again took home four of the main awards tonight, sweeping ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Worldwide Icon of the Year’. Below is BTS’s acceptance speech:  

“We were honored with a precious award at 2021 MAMA. Thank you very much. For all of those who had difficult times this year, to share strength and comfort, we tried new things in making music and we worked very hard. Thank you for empathizing with our heartful music and enjoying them with us. <Butter> and <Permission to Dance> gained enormous love this year, we will share this honor with everyone who worked hard to make great music and performances with us. And most of all, we think this is the award given to both us and all Armies who’ve been showing so much love toward our music. We believe many in the world had difficult times in 2021. But we hope we all can believe that greater hope is on its way, little by little. We will work harder so our music can be your peace of mind and comfort in difficult times. We will continue to make music and performances that many can enjoy together. It is the end of the year already, we hope all of you can shake off all the year’s regrets and have a wonderful year-end. Once again, thank you 2021 MAMA and Army for the great honor. Only a few days are left for 2021, have a happy year-end with BTS’s music.”

2021 MAMA: PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS & CLIPS

World’s No.1 K-pop Music Awards Ceremony ‘2021 Mnet ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS (2021 MAMA)’ successfully wraps up the breakthrough year of K-pop with spectacular stages.

This year’s MAMA presented to the global audience jaw-dropping stages of aespa, ATEEZ, Brave Girls, ENHYPEN, INI, ITZY, JANNABI, JO1, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, Stray Kids, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER and special performances by Ed Sheeran and Wanna One.

2021 MAMA’s first female host, Lee Hyori, opened the show which was followed by the opening performance ‘BlooM The Sound’ by the fourth generation idols: HYUNJIN of Stray Kids, WOOYOUNG of ATEEZ, YEJI of ITZY, YEONJUN of TOMORROW X TOGETHER, KARINA of aespa and HEESEUNG of ENHYPEN.

The ceremony also featured special performances and collaborations that can be seen only at MAMA, including:
– Ed Sheeran performing a special mash up of “Bad Habits” and “shivers”,
– the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Show Me the Money,
– ITZY X Squid Game actor HEO SUNG TAE collaboration,
– special Wanna One reunion that was put together as a present for fans,
– host Lee Hyori performing with Street Woman Fighter crews.

From NCT Dream’s performance of “Hot Sauce” – a stage that was designed to visualize their song both offline and through AR to aespa’s performance of “Next Level” and “Savage” that incorporated several AR elements including a special appearance by the members’ avatars – 2021 MAMA did not disappoint on the advanced state-of-the-art technology,

Meanwhile, 2021 MAMA stayed true to this year’s concept: MAKE SOME NOISE: MAMA incorporated ‘roar’s and official shoutouts from global fans into the actual performance.
