K-Pop Couple Goals: These Idol Couples Are Still In Love And Going Strong
More K-pop couples are starting to go public with their relationship, much to the delight of fans. Though dating bans and fear of backlash from antis are still preventing idols from talking about their love life, some pairs are throwing caution to the wind and are openly declaring their love for each other. And while some couples, such as Twice’s Momo and Super Junior’s Heechul, have made so many fans cry by calling it quits this year, other idol pairs are still going strong to this day. These are the idol couples who are very much in love and are still together in 2021.
Hyuna and Dawn
Hyuna and Dawn’s love story is one for the books as not only did they rise up against detractors, but they also managed to become the It Couple of K-pop. The two started secretly dating back when they were still under Cube Entertainment, but eventually, they went public with their relationship in August 2018. The news shocked the K-pop world and soon after, Cube decided to remove both artists from their label. It didn’t take long for Hyuna and Dawn to find a new home though as both of them got invited to sign with P NATION, an agency founded by PSY.
Since then, they’ve begun sharing more about their relationship on social media, often posting sweet pictures and videos together on their respective Instagram accounts. Brands such as Calvin Klein have also asked them to model together, and they even released a new mini album together earlier this year. It was reported that the couple has now been dating for six years, and the foundation of their relationship has been strengthened by their trust, connection, and their ability to weather any storm that comes their way.
Red Velvet’s Joy and Crush
Collaborations are quite the norm in the K-pop world, but nobody expected that Red Velvet’s Joy and K-R&B singer Crush would end up together after working on the song “Mayday” in 2020. On Aug. 23, both of their labels, SM Entertainment and P NATION, confirmed that they are dating “with good feelings towards each other.” In a post on his official fan cafe website, Crush said that he was taken aback by the media reports, but he did want to share the news with his fans at the right time. He also shared that he has become much happier since he started seeing Joy.
Crayon Pop’s Soyul and H.O.T.’s Moon Hee Jun
Crayon Pop’s Soyul and H.O.T.’s Moon Hee Jun proves that when it comes to love, age is just a number. Despite being 13 years older than Soyul, Hee Jun, a first generation K-pop idol, quietly courted the Crayon Pop member while she was still actively promoting as an idol group member. They dated for two years before tying the knot in February 2017. Their daughter JamJam was born in May 2017, and in 2019, the whole family appeared in the popular reality show “The Return of Superman.”
In a clip that was aired on the show, Soyul said that it was Hee Jun’s thoughtfulness that made her decide to marry him. The former idol said that while they were dating, she craved walnut cookies for about a month, and when she told Hee Jun about it, he immediately bought some and brought them to her. They stayed on the show for one year and two months, and nowadays, they continue to share updates from their everyday life through their shared YouTube channel.
These three K-pop idol couples prove that love can thrive in the midst of their busy schedules and the constant scrutiny that they face as celebrities. Fans hope that idols dating each other will be normalized and that their favorites will be able to date who they love, just like Hyuna and Dawn, Joy and Crush, and Soyul and Hee Jun.
