Monstrous Desires and New Horrors Await: Netflix’s SWEET HOME: SEASON 2 Premieres 1 December
Sweet Home is set to return for its second season on 1 December. In a world where desires physically manifest into monsters, Sweet Home: Season 2 follows Green Home survivors and Song Kang’s Hyun-soo as they continue to fight to survive in new places, while other beings and mysterious phenomena emerge.
Returning Characters in New Settings
The date announcement key art features a dilapidated baseball stadium, serving as the backdrop for the upcoming season’s narrative. The main characters depart from the Green Home, the site of their previous monster battles, and are compelled to venture into the outside world. Survivors have gathered at what is left of the stadium and built a community, but they still cannot let their guard down. The evolving storyline promises heightened anticipation as the characters confront new dangers in different environments, where they have to fight against both external monsters and their own monstrous desires.
Song Kang returns as Hyun-soo, who is caged up and being taken to a mysterious location in the date announcement teaser. Under the scrutiny of a voice claiming to have been waiting for him, Hyun-soo determinedly asks what he needs to do. As survivors continue to grapple with the threat of monsterisation and groups of monsters on a rampage, what can Hyun-soo do? Is he indeed the saviour who can save everyone from this nightmare?
Expanded Stories and World-Building
To craft this unique narrative, which goes beyond the original webtoon, director Lee Eung-bok consulted with writer Kim Kanbi and had in-depth discussions about the hidden premises in the original webtoon as well as in expanding the world-building in the upcoming season.
Piquing curiosity about the new stories, director Lee says, “It is going to be a full-fledged apocalyptic drama. While Season 1 portrayed tension and fear in the confined space of the Green Home, Season 2 will be set in an open space with the introduction of a whole new group of characters and monsters.”
Lee Jin-wook, who plays Pyeon Sang-wook, affirms, “This season will present a world that diverges from the original webtoon. As the world expands, there will be more to think about.”
Lee Si-young – who plays former firefighter Seo Yi-kyung — adds to the excitement for how the story will unfold, saying, “A vastly sprawling world awaits the characters after they leave Green Home. Everyone will go through major changes.”
Prepare for an influx of new creatures and thrills in Sweet Home: Season 2 on 1 December, only on Netflix.
