The Hammer Museum will celebrate the opening of Only the Young: Experimental Art in Korea, 1960s–1970s with a special performance by Korean hip hop group Dynamic Duo and dance crew PROWDMON. This performance is presented by CJ ENM.
Catch two electrifying performances in the Hammer’s courtyard to mark the opening of Only the Young: Experimental Art in Korea, 1960s–1970s! Korean hip hop group Dynamic Duo (aka rappers Gaeko & Choiza) are one of the most well-known and prolific groups ever to come out of Korea—from their 2014 release AEAO to last year’s hit single “Smoke.” Dance crew PROWDMON, led by Monika, first gained widespread recognition as part of CJ ENM’s dance competition series Street Woman Fighter. Their performance at the Hammer will feature four members of the crew—Monika, Lip J, Minz, and Kayday.

The opening celebration marks the opening of a full slate of exhibitions this season at the Hammer Museum. Only the Young: Experimental Art in Korea, 1960s–1970s is the first exhibition in North America to explore groundbreaking shifts made by a generation of artists in the decades following the Korean War (1950–53).
Also on view are the exhibitions stanley brouwn; Groove: Artists and Intaglio Prints, 1500 to Now; and two new Hammer Projects by artists Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi and Vamba Bility.
ABOUT THE HAMMER MUSEUM
The Hammer Museum is part of the School of the Arts and Architecture at UCLA, and offers exhibitions and collections that span classic to contemporary art. It holds more than 50,000 works in its collection, including one of the finest collections of works on paper in the nation, the Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts. Through a wide-ranging, international exhibition program and the Made in L.A. biennial, the Hammer highlights contemporary art since the 1960s, especially the work of emerging and under-recognized artists. The exhibitions, permanent collections, and nearly 300 public programs annually— including film screenings, lectures, symposia, readings, music performances, and workshops for families—are all free to the public.

Parking is available in the lot beneath the Hammer Museum, accessed via Westwood Boulevard or Glendon Avenue. Parking is $8. Rideshare or visitor drop-off is available on Lindbrook Drive. Located on the north side of the Museum between Westwood Boulevard and Glendon Avenue, this entrance has an accessible ramp up to the courtyard level. Visitors may also be dropped off in the parking garage underneath the museum, where there is an accessible ramp.
