Three members from the legendary K-pop group, Girls’ Generation, have teamed up to form a new unit: Girls’ Generation-HRS. The trio of HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG has officially released their debut digital single, ‘Skibidi’, across all major streaming platforms. The unit’s debut single project features two tracks, ‘Skibidi’ and ‘Lowkey In Love’. The title track ‘Skibidi’ shifts seamlessly from house to hip-hop, pairing a dynamic, genre-blending production with distinctive Arabic-inspired string samples. Its lyrics center on carving out your own path, capturing the playful confidence at the heart of Girls’ Generation-HRS.
The b-side ‘Lowkey In Love’ takes a brighter, retro-inspired approach, with upbeat brass, a groovy rhythm and an instantly catchy melody giving the song an easy, feel-good charm.
Ahead of the single’s release, Girls’ Generation-HRS performed both tracks at the 2026 CassCool Festival at Seoul Land in Gwacheon on 22 August, giving fans an early look at the trio’s chemistry and stage presence.
Girls’ Generation-HRS, the newest unit of Girls’ Generation, grew out of the “Fake Kim Hyoyeon” series on HYOYEON’s YouTube channel, Hyo’s Level Up. The series followed HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG as they playfully competed for roles such as main vocalist and center, with their easy chemistry quickly winning over fans. The positive response eventually led to the trio’s official debut as Girls’ Generation-HRS, with ‘Skibidi’ marking their first official release as a unit.
Girls’ Generation (SM Entertainment), comprised of TAEYEON, SUNNY, HYOYEON, YURI, SOOYOUNG, YOONA and SEOHYUN, is one of K-pop’s most iconic and influential girl groups, widely regarded as having helped set the blueprint for large-member K-pop girl groups. Since debuting in 2007, the group has built a lasting legacy through its versatile sound, distinctive concepts and a catalog of beloved hits. Beyond their work as a group, the members have also pursued a wide range of solo and subunit projects, including Girls’ Generation-TTS, Girls’ Generation-Oh!GG and Girls’ Generation-HRS. Over the course of their career, Girls’ Generation has reached a number of major global milestones, including becoming the first Korean girl group to top the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart, appearing on Late Show with David Letterman and LIVE! with Kelly, and becoming the first Asian artist to win Video of the Year at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards. In 2022, the group celebrated its 15th anniversary with its seventh full-length album, FOREVER 1, reaffirming its lasting influence and status as one of K-pop’s most enduring acts.
