Globally emerging artist ‘NMIXX’ selected as Spotify’s RADAR KOREA artist

  • Spotify discovers and supports various emerging artists around the world through its ‘RADAR program’
  • JYP’s monster rookie NMIXX is selected as the first artist of the year for RADAR KOREA
  • Since early February, NMIXX has begun connecting with fans at home and abroad through Spotify prior to official debut

Spotify – the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service – announced that JYP Entertainment’s latest group NMIXX has been selected as the first RADAR KOREA artist of the year.

Known as Spotify’s global emerging artist support program, RADAR unveils emerging and talented artists to listeners worldwide, providing them with human and financial resources, editorial support, and both online and offline marketing promotions in the long run. Receiving diversified support from Spotify, the artists selected for the program are given the opportunity to further expand their scope of activities and secure more listeners.

Selected as the first RADAR KOREA artist of the year, NMIXX is comprised of seven members – LILY, HAEWON, SULLYOON, JINNI, BAE, JIWOO and KYUJIN – and officially debuted on February 22 by releasing their single “AD MARE” and its lead track “O.O.” In early February, NMIXX had already unveiled audio liners exclusively on Spotify, greeting their global fans and revealing their music style as well as the messages behind their debut single in multiple languages, including Korean, English, and Spanish.

Spotify plans to support NMIXX’s future moves by launching an active, long-term global marketing campaign, encompassing the production of diverse social contents. It will also be offering NMIXX the opportunity to produce Spotify Singles, allowing them to re-record one of their existing songs in a fresh new way, or cover a song of their choice by one of their own musical heroes.

“Since long ago, Spotify has been serving as one of the most pivotal and trusted partners to JYP and to the growth of South Korea’s music industry,” said a JYP spokesperson. “It is meaningful that NMIXX’s relationship with Spotify, which began even before debut, has led to the RADAR KOREA program. We look forward to seeing NMIXX communicate with global K-pop fans through Spotify.”

“As we have prepared for a long time, we are very excited to share our music with more listeners and fans around the world through Spotify’s RADAR program,” said NMIXX leader HAEWON. “We hope to grow into a global K-pop group with Spotify’s support.”

“We are very excited to have NMIXX, who have created a fresh breeze in the global K-pop scene, join our first RADAR KOREA program of the year,” said a Spotify spokesperson. “NMIXX is a talented rookie pushing boundaries with their new ‘MIXX POP’ genre through unique voices and sounds, and we are dedicated to supporting them through RADAR, connecting them with more listeners and fans around the globe.”

In the past, globally emerging talents such as The Kid LAROI and girl in red have grown together with Spotify’s RADAR program. RADAR KOREA, designed as part of RADAR, has also been supporting various globally emerging Korean artists – such as Gaho, AleXa, ASH ISLAND, Weeekly, SECRET NUMBER, and TREASURE – and introducing them to Spotify listeners around the world through its RADAR KOREA playlist which officially launched in August 2020.
