The new girl group of Cube Entertainment ‘LIGHTSUM’ is finally unveiled to brighten up 2021 and make the second half of the year more special.

LIGHTSUM consists of 8 members including CHOWON, NAYOUNG, and YUJEONG who received huge love from Mnet ‘Produce 48’, JUHYEON from ‘The Unit’ and ‘Dancing High’ on KBS2, leaving an unforgettable impression to the judges with outstanding performance and stage presence, SANGAH who has been the talk of the town with her stunning visuals, HINA and HUIYEON with extraordinary talents in ballet and figure skating respectively, and JIAN, born in 2006, the youngest idol to debut in the current K-pop scene. Anticipation for LIGHTSUM’s debut has heightened with the release of their pre-debut profile photos that exude pure and innocent vibes, and the character film of each member who was not only acknowledged for their performance and singing abilities, but also for their free and unique style of Generation Z.

As their team name means ’a group of bright LIGHTs coming together as one SUM to illuminate everyone in this world and bring more positive energy to people through their message of hope’, LIGHTSUM aims to show their broad spectrum with crossovers of diverse music and styles, rather than following conventional concepts.

The debut single [Vanilla] has the meaning that ‘LIGHTSUM’s special, eye-opening vanilla taste will be a magical gift for your ordinary day’. The song will enchant the repetitive daily lives of yours with new fantasies to make you feel confident and uplifted. It metaphorically describes the excitement within tension that comes with new beginnings as the sweet moment of falling in love.

‘Vanilla’ is an energetic and positive high-teen pop dance song produced by joined forces of songwriters such as STEVEN LEE, who produced and arranged the international title song ‘In Memories’ from The Avengers and Oh My Girl’s ‘Secret Garden’ and ‘Nonstop’; Caroline Gustavsson, a Swedish songwriter who produced Girls’ Generation, AOA, and GFRIEND’s songs; and J. Littlewood, a British songwriter.

The lines ‘My eyes are casting sweet spells on your heart’ and ‘All your dreams will come true, surely, they’ll come true’ especially give an ethereal mood that makes the listeners feel as if they are under a spell and invited to a fantasy world. The music video depicts the moment when the 8 members from Vanilla village leap forward to their dreams with fairy tale-inspired elements and vibrant aesthetics. Furthermore, LIGHTSUM’s powerful performance lets the audience get even more immersed in the song.

LIGHTSUM’s [Vanilla], a special gift that has just arrived for you. As soon as they enter the K-pop scene you can’t help but fall in love with them, so keep your eyes on LIGHTSUM’s amazing adventure.
