EXO, DEAN, TWICE and many more to attend ‘The 6th Gaon Chart Music Awards’!
The 2017 Gaon Music Awards is back with another year of awards and will be held on February 22, 2017 at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium.
The Korea association on Music Content announced on January 23, 2017 the first group that will be attending as the attendance of 10 popular K-pop acts, SISTAR, Han Dong Gun, EXO, Bolbbalgan Sachoongi, BeWhy, DEAN, MAMAMOO, TWICE, GFRIEND, and Onew from boy group SHINee.
The Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards is one of the biggest K-pop awards shows in Korea that celebrates the most popular songs and singers of the previous year. The awards finalists are based on the previous year’s Gaon year-end chart performances according to the sales data of each song and album. The awards focuses more on songs and albums than the popularity of the artists, but the charts offer a popularity awards through a paid voting through their app.
The upcoming event will be the 6th annual for the Gaon Music Awards, which takes into account the artists’ performance on the Gaon Music Chart for deciding the nominated acts.
A source for the award show stated, “We would like to honor the K-pop artists who have worked hard over the past year and feel the power of the Hallyu wave growing each year as more people from other countries attend Korean award ceremonies.”
