Hey K-Popped! readers!
Ever wondered about Chad Future who has collaborated with VIXX’s Ravi and NU’EST Aron? Born as David Lehre, Chad Future from Detroit, Michigan can’t help but fall for K-Pop over and over again. The craze started when he first listened to H.O.T, and the interest goes on stronger as time goes by. Chad has appeared on Esquire magazine’s “Hot 100” list and made his name famous when his video went viral on YouTube with over 60 million views.
K-Popped! were lucky to get an exclusive interview with the man himself and ask about his interest with K-pop!
How did you come up with the name Chad Future and what does it mean to you?
Chad is a nickname I was given in High School and was my first “Boy Band” name in 2006. The group was called HEAT STREET in U.S.A. I liked the idea of having a different name and character to express myself with music and attitude. Chad seem to fit and I liked the way it sounded.
Future is what I want to represent as an artist. The future of music, being a leader, a trendsetter and doing something different. Chad + Future = Chad Future 🙂
What attracts you to K-pop?
K-Pop is so great because of their music videos, style, production value, music style, dancing and choreography. It seems very artistic and colourful. It inspires me because they put so much detail into each production. The girls are really cute too, haha.
How did you start listening to K-pop?
I first discovered K-Pop with H.O.T 10 years ago. I didn’t know what it was, but I loved their style. It reminded me a lot of a futuristic version of Backstreet Boys and N’Sync.
Why did you choose to collaborate with K-pop idols like Aron from NU’ESt and Ravi from VIXX? Do you know them personally hence the collaboration?
I really love their music and wanted to work with some of my favorites in K-Pop. I got to meet them all through mutual friends and the experience was very rewarding for all of us. I was so grateful to experience new cultures and they were happy to visit LA and see the ‘American Style’ of recording and filming. We had a lot of fun and have become great friends.
Tell us about your new album “Chad Future – The First Mini Album”
The album is something we are all very proud of. We were able to combine K-Pop and American Style into one nice album. All the producers of the album are very famous and successful K-Pop producers. They have worked with EXO, Girls Generation, Tae-Yang, Shinee and much more. The Mastering engineer (Tom Coyne) has worked on all of the Beyonce Albums, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Britney Spears, 2NE1, BigBang, Psy and more. It was a great team and I’m so grateful to be working with them to create the “AK-Pop” style.
To a new listener, which song do you suggest they listen to first and why?
Rock The World!!
because it’s fun, powerful and full of energy!
Which K-pop artiste do you want to collaborate with next?
YG Family! 2NE1, G-Dragon, TOP, everyone.
