[Exclusive] BoA still sizzles after 15 years

Being in the music industry for 15 years where the industry is full of new singers springing up like mushrooms after the rain is not an easy feat. Kwon Boa, or better known as BoA (acronym for Beat of Angels), was discovered at the mere age of 11, and debuted in the music industry at age 13. 15 years on, she still rule the music industry as the Queen of Korean Pop. Thanks to SM Entertainment once again, we were given the chance to chat with BoA on her new album, Kiss My Lips.

Celebrating her 15th year of being in the music industry, one would wonder the motivation it takes for BoA to stay on and to keep following her dreams. There are a lot of people who have great expectation in me, so my motivation is very much driven on that – says BoA. With great power comes great responsibility, and BoA has shown determination and skills from a young age and blossomed into the great performer that we know now.

BoA recently released her 8th Korean-language studio album titled Kiss My Lips. BoA self-produced the album which took a year for the singer to write the tracks and to prepare for the album. It contains twelve tracks of diverse genres including the pre-released track Who Are You, and the title track Kiss My Lips, which shared the name of the album. Kiss My Lips is a pop song which incorporates the synthesizer riffs in the music and emphasizes BoA’s vocals. Rather a playful number, the song encourages the love interest to stop hesitating and just approach her.

Having written and composed the album, BoA believes that first hand experiences are the best in writing a song. She writes from the heart and uses her experiences in life and stories from the people around her which reflects on peoples daily lives too. With positive comments from the fans, further motivates the multi award winning performer. For the album, BoA penned 20 songs and only the best made the cut.

According to BoA, 15 years seems like a long time, but she believe that there is still a lot of time for her to seek for new experiences and to show the fans a new side of herself, and a great time to start a new life. Here’s to another 15 years of achievement!
