South Korean singer and songwriter Jamie – also known as Park Jimin – announces her signing to Warner Music Korea on April 21st.
It’s an important and memorable moment for both artist and label. The 22 year old is the first local K-Pop artist signed by Warner Music Korea, and it marks Jamie’s return to the music industry after leaving JYP Entertainment at the end of her contract in August of 2019.
Of her new home with Warner Music Korea, Jamie says, “I’m very excited about signing with Warner Music Korea. Although it’s been eight years since I’ve been in the industry, I want to start this chapter of my life as a new me , as Jamie .
I can’t wait to share more of my music and stories with all my fans that have been by my side for all these years. Please look forward to a busy 2020!”.
Jamie rose to fame at the age of 14 through winning the talent survival show K-Pop Star in 2011, and was often referred to as the “Korean Adele” thanks to her stunningly powerful vocal performances. She went on to form one-half of 15& with Baek Yerin, and released two well-received solo extended plays, 19 to 20 (2016) and jiminxjamie (2018). A multi-faceted entertainer, she’s also won a place in the heart of K-Pop fans around the world through her role as a vibrant, playful MC on the long-running idol variety show, After School Club.
Clayton Jin, the Managing Director of Warner Music Korea, calls Jamie’s signing “an exciting time for us all. Although Jamie is still so young, she’s incredibly gifted and has a wealth of industry experience, as well as the potential for major growth. She’s also the first Korean artist to join our roster, the epitome of talent, drive and skill that we want to nurture and work with to achieve great things. We’re very happy Jamie’s chosen to be with us.”
