The year 2020 happened and ended in a way that we could have never predicted. Social distancing & quarantine, unknown & chaotic, new technology mixed with confusion. As we entered 2021, people craved for the ordinary simple life, hoping to travel and connect with the world again, looking for warmth and the relationship with other people. With this thought in mind, and inspired by his name, Jung Yong Hwa’s first Mandarin EP is called “STAY IN TOUCH”, he wishes to see people staying connected and being warm to each other especially during the difficult pandemic period of time.

From the music creator’s angle, Jung Yong Hwa hopes that his song can connect to the world, his melodies can relate with people, bringing warmth that will link all hearts together, and delivering pure beautiful thoughts. This EP includes 4 Mandarin songs that collaborated with top artists around the world. First single “CHECKMATE” is a trending EDM song remixed by World’s Top 100 DJ R3HAB featuring Asia superstar singer-songwriter JJ Lin. As of the album title “STAY IN TOUCH”, not only was it inspired by Jung Yong Hwa’s name but also includes the meaning of music collaboration. Besides R3HAB and JJ Lin, there are also many top-class musicians participating in this EP.

Jung Yong Hwa has been active in Greater China market for the past years and is always passionate about the Mandopop market. He had sung the Chinese version of “Cinderella” with his band CNBLUE, which is the theme song for the Chinese movie “Bad Guys Always Die”. He also starred with superstar Nicholas Tse and Ge You in the movie “Cook Up A Storm”.

Jung Yong Hwa confessed that it was such a big challenge for him to sing all the songs in Mandarin for his debut Mandopop EP. He didn’t expect it would be that difficult as he usually handles quite well during his previous recordings. Nevertheless, Jung Yong Hwa enjoyed the ride and promised that he has more surprises planned for his Chinese fans in the world. “STAY IN TOUCH” will release worldwide on June 22nd (his birthday).

Before releasing “STAY IN TOUCH”, Jung Yong Hwa has prepared a special gift for his fans, which is inviting the World’s Top 100 DJ R3HAB to do an EDM remix version of “Checkmate”, which is written by himself and JJ Lin. Jung Yong Hwa writes the music of “Checkmate”, and the lyrics are a collaboration between Jung and JJ Lin, creatively combining Chinese, Korean, and English altogether, filled with romanticism, pure belief, and the passion of rock music.

After teaming up with R3HAB, “Checkmate” evolved into a brand new style of music, a perfect combination between rock and electronic music, putting all three artist’s styles to the max. Jung Yong Hwa has always been a fan of R3HAB, and is thrilled to work with him, Jung also hopes that he will have more chances to try more EDM music in the future.

As for R3HAB, he said, “I love to work with people all around the world and to work with a Chinese artist and a Korean artist this is absolutely amazing! Especially because we are combining styles, it’s like a fusion restaurant; I’m doing the remix all the way from Europe, and having vocals from Asia, absolutely crazy.” “Checkmate (R3HAB REMIX)” will be out worldwide on April 16th.
