THE 8TH NIGHT, A Netflix Film Releases Main Poster and Main Trailer
A Terrifying “Millenia-Old Spirit” Has Awakened, Ready to Unleash Hell.
Netflix has released the sensory-laden main poster and the main trailer for its mystery thriller The 8th Night. The film is a chronicle of an eight-day battle fought to prevent breaking the seal of “That Which Must Not Awaken.” Once unleashed, a “millenia-old spirit” will cross seven stepping stones to bring the pains and suffering of hell to Earth.
The released main poster has the intriguing copy that reads, “A sealed prophecy, 7 grotesque bodies — Don’t you dare open your eyes.” The contrasting colors of red and black pervade the main poster, indicative of the red and the black halves that must not rejoin. The four characters in the poster, each of whom sees the mysterious events through a different lens, wear distinct expressions.
The main trailer that was released at the same time is just as gripping with scenes of “That Which Must Not Awaken” separated and sealed in sarira caskets never to be rejoined. The trailer begins with the reference to “a sealed prophecy,” with Master Hajeong forewarning how “millenia-old spirit” began crossing the seven stepping stones to find its other half on the night of the Red Moon. Mysterious events begin to unfold as the two Violent Crime Unit detectives, Kim Ho-tae and Park Dong-jin, investigate the seven grotesque, desiccated bodies with deformed heads.
Also featured in the trailer are Ae-ran, who harbors a secret pertaining to the seven stepping stones, and the guardian Park Jin-su, who must prevent the breaking of the seal that restrains “That Which Must Not Awaken.” The lines “What exactly did I see?” and “‘It’ has awakened” hint at the intertwined and confluent fates of the guardian, the investigator, and the companion. Especially captivating is Park Jin-su’s relentless pursuit of “That Which Must Not Awaken” to forestall a world where “the living and the dead suffer from rage and desperation.”
The 8th Night, an unconventional story of life-or-death battle to guard the seal of “That Which Must Not Awaken,” features an ensemble cast of talented and appealing actors who will not disappoint the viewers awaiting in anticipation. The mystery thriller The 8th Night will be released worldwide on 2 July, only on Netflix.
