[Exclusive] Q&A with stars of ‘Two Cops’: Kim Sun Ho and Im Se Mi

‘Two Cops’ is a new Korean drama starring Cho Jung Seok, Lee Hye Ri, Kim Sun Ho and Im Se Mi. The drama revolves around Detective Cha, one of the best performing agents in Korea – or at least he was until a con man’s ghost took over his body! No one can figure out why he is acting so strangely, but one fervent reporter will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks to Oh!K, K-popped! got a chance to have a quick Q&A with the co-stars of ‘Two Cops’, Kim Sun Ho and Im Se Mi.

Kim Sun Ho is an actor who is active in theater since 2009. Kim made his drama debut in Good Manager (2017). In his second drama Strongest Deliveryman (2017), he was cast as one of the lead actors, taking on the role of a villain.

Im Se Mi is a actress known for her role in You’ve Fallen for Me (2011), Shopaholic Louis (2016) and Goodbye Mr. Black (2016).

Without further ado, check out our Q&A below :

Q : Kim Sun-ho, your previous characters were light and cheerful in nature. How is your character in Two Cops different?

Kim Sun Ho

Kim Sun Ho: In Two Cops, my character has a similar lightness/cheerfulness in my previous roles. This time, I’ve paid more attention to my gestures as a con artist. Gong Soo-chang’s character was already written in the script so I try to stick with the script.

Q : Im Se Mi, you’ve cut your hair short and your character is more light-hearted than your previous characters. Have you projected your actual personality into your character? What can we expect from you?

Im Se Mi: I’ve made some changes to my character. When I first read the script, it said “red-haired Bong-sook pickpockets.” I asked myself, ‘who is my character? Is this character limited? Is this character me?’ I tried to sympathize, understand and become closer to Bong-sook.

Q : Im Se Mi, how is Cho Jung Seok and Kim Sun Ho different in terms of their appeal? Are there any difficulties in working with them?

Im Se Mi

Im Se Mi: I actually haven’t shot a lot of scenes yet. I think Sun Ho focuses very well. He constantly practices at rehearsals and filming sets. As we practice with each other, I come to think that Sun Ho actually considers Jung Seok as his sibling. Cho Jung Seok is one of my favorite actors and it was hard to not laugh while acting with him. It’s fun to work with them.

Q : Kim Sun Ho, you’ve done a lot of theater plays. How are you adjusting to TV drama? What have you learned?

Kim Sun-ho: The two styles of character portrayal cannot be completely identical, but I am referencing a lot and learning a lot as well. In terms of acting, there’s not much difference between theater and TV. I am paying more attention to my tone. I’ve spent a lot of time with Cho Jung Seok. We talk a lot and I have learned a lot from him. I’ve adapted myself a lot, but I am still learning and I hope to develop myself even more.

Two Cops airs on Oh!K (Astro Ch 394) within 24 hours of its Korean telecast, every Tuesday & Wednesday at 7.50 pm. Don’t miss it!
