[Event Coverage] LAY back in Malaysia and Satay Song 2.0

Zhang Yi Xing, or more commonly known as Lay Zhang, brought his Grandline 4: Step World Tour to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysian XBACKS and EXO-Ls gave him a warm welcome.

Despite it being a weekday, fans were swarming the Mega Star Arena, dressed in purple, a color set for the Malaysian part of the concert, armed with their light sticks.

As the lights were dimmed, Lay made his entrance with his song “SHEEP”, while riding a sheep prop on stage. As the fans were already captivated, Lay continued on with “BOSS”, “Lay Down If You’re Tired” and “Lit” before taking a short break to converse with the fans.

Fondly known as “Abang Lay” to his Malaysian fans, Lay did not shy from using his nickname while talking with his fans. He expressed how he love and missed Malaysian fans and the delicious food that he has tried.

He then continued on with “Mornings With You”, “RB2U” (originally released with American singer Lauv), “Daisy”, “Before You Let Go”, “Psychic”, “Staring At The Sun”, and “Lay You Down”. A piano was then brought on to the stage, and Lay performed a short song, an ode to his favourite Malaysian food, Satay, as first heard during his Grandline 2.

Lay warmed XBACKS hearts when he joined a sign language interpreter and a little girl as he performed “Human In You”. He also performed “A Legend” – a song that featured Jackie Chan, “I’m Still Learning”, and “Breath”.

Showing that he is multi talented, he turned the arena into one giant club as he takes the turn table and spin for “Right Now”. A DJ then took over for the rest of his performances for “BOOM”, “NAMANANA”, “Alive”, “Mapotofu” and “Veil”.

Lay Zhang is truly an artist with many skills, singing from ballads to heart hitting beats, singing and dancing, and with his nonchalant ways of interacting with his fans, he is truly loved by XBACKS. Truly and incredible night by the artist for the fans.
